With so many great beaches to choose from......this one was well....boring, compared to all the other beaches in the Algarve. It is kind of a soul less stretch of endless sand, with none of the character of the other beaches.

This beach was just outside our Hotel (Yellow Hotel). The beach bars are superb (much better value than hotel prices), our favourite being Bar Quim just next to the train stop.

The walk east along to the Alvor harbour wall was just lovely, and extremely quiet, with the sea being warmer than the hotel pools. A lot of nudists along this section of the beach, which was fun!

The walk west along the beach into Lagos was also a holiday highlight, especially when the tide was out. Keep walking west, and then you can get the cute little passenger ferry over the river, straight into Lagos centre.

Yes the caves, coves and inlets the other side of Lagos (accessible via the Noddy Train) are more spectacular, but the cleanliness and open-ness of Meia Praia is very special.

This is one of the special things about Lagos of course, you have the open expanses of Meia Praia, and the fantastic cliffs and coves of the Dona Ana area - the best of both beach experiences.

Gorgeous long stretch of sandy beach that rarely seems busy. Sea can be a bit rough, good for water sports not so good for young children. Clean with some nice beach bars/restaurants.

This wonderful sandy beach with its abundance of beach bar/restaurants is just like being on one of the more exotic beaches in the tropics of the Caribbean or South East Asia. The only downside is the cold sea, as after all it is the Atlantic.

Just off the beach can be found many bars, restaurants, hotels and golf courses. Something for everyone from Couples to families with children.

Expensive in high season but very much better off season. Beware the beach club on the beach behind the Hotel Villa Gale it costs 10 euros per person for entry and to have a sun lounger. There is a small pool there and just as cold as the sea only 50 metres away. There is food and beer both are expensive. This is really an offshoot from the Hotel Tivoli and even their customers have to pay.
