Quinta Bonita Luxury Boutique Hotel
Ranked #1 of 71 Lagos B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 14 July 2013

The Quinta Bonita is a very nice, quiet, small boutique hotel near to Lagos on the Algarve. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful especially if you require information about the surrounding area, places to visit, resturants etc. You will need a car to get around as it is a hard slog on foot to the nearest beach, shop, bar etc. although the staff will book taxies for you and also make reservations at man of the excellent local eateries. We liked The Dolphin and the Steak House in Luz.
The rooms vary considerably, if you book with Thomson (they only have access to 2 rooms) you may be a little dissapointed with the position of the room so if you fancy QB please book independantly with Chantell or Fraser (owners). The rooms themselves are great it's just that the Thomsom rooms are not best situated, the one we had (Salema) is at the back of the hotel off the entrance driveway, and has one of the smallest terraces we have ever encountered but there are so many other really nice places to sit out around the hotel that we never had to use it.
The standard buffet breakfast is excellent, loads of fresh fruit salad, yougurts etc, bread & cereals, cheese & meats. We though we might be paying the extra 5€ for the cooked breakfast but there was no need. The platters and salads at lunchtime were very nice and good value.
The grounds and terraces are excellent with a nice clean pool area.
Some days we were the only guests that didn't go out for the day and it felt like it was your own private villa.
We will be returning (but not with Thomson) and will probably request either Borderia or Zavial which overlook the lawns and Playa da Luz in the distance and get the afternoon/evening sun.

Room Tip: Try for an upstairs room, or if downstairs try for Martinhal.

Just stayed here for a week. This is a lovely, family run small boutique hotel. Gorgeous room (we were in Borderia) with a huge balcony with sun loungers. Lovely pool area and gardens. The staff were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The local restaurants were also very good and very reasonably priced. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday which was good value for money.

Newly married, we booked a very last minute honeymoon (having previously thought we wouldn't be able to get away due to endless cancer treatment)
It was truly an oasis of calm, and just the tonic we both needed.
We were lucky to get such a late reservation, as Quinta Bonita was solidly booked, apart from that week. To accomodate us at such late notice, we had to stay in 3 seperate rooms, for 1 night, 5 nights and the last night respectively. This was great as it gave us a real taste of the hotel, with each room having a charm of it's own. The first night, the bed was covered in petals with a complimentary bottle of champagne to congratulate us on our marriage, which was a lovely touch.
All the staff were helpful, efficient and effortlessly ordered taxi's and made restaurant reservations for us.
After a hot dusty day sightseeing, to return to the cool and tranquil Quinta Bonita was a joy. To either take a refreshing swim in the pool, relax on the our private terrace or hide away to read in a shaded part of the beautiful gardens. It was easy to feel far from the madding crowds here, and almost as if it were privately ours.

Quinta Bonita is truly luxury at its best. We requested The Bordeira room and it did not disappoint, a beautiful spacious bedroom with fantastic balcony with sunbeds and table overlooking the wonderful gardens. Chantelle, Fraser and all the staff were so pleasant, nothing was too much trouble for them. They provided us with some fantastic information on walks around the coast providing detailed fact sheets on each walk. The breakfasts were great too, oh and the cakes provided every afternoon! A great find and I’d certainly go back again.

Room Tip: Bordeira room very quiet and private.

When we arrived, we were handed champayne glasses of refreshing fruit juice and hot towels to sooth us after our journey...and one for a travel companion who wasnt staying! Our bedroom had a four poster bed, beautiful bathroom with hand painted portuguese tiles, and a lovely private terrace with not only our own table and chairs but sun beds overlooking the pool. The amounty of private space was lovely. It looked even better than the website! We were so well looked after by all the team at Quinta Bonita catering for our every need. We would definietly go again - and it'd definitely be worth it! It's so relaxed and the furnishings are welcoming rather than cold or intimidating...our time there flew and we'd love to go back.

Room Tip: Book a sea view - not a courtyard (which is the driveway!) room. It'll be loud at night and wont...

Quinta Bonita is lovely. They only have 8 rooms in the villa style hotel set in beautiful gardens. The OJ at breakfast comes straight from the orchard on the property and the views are stunning. A nice pool and comfortable sitting areas add to the ambience. The hosts, Chantelle and Fraser, can help with almost everything - bike hire, kayaking, picnics, route maps, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious, light and bright, oh, and there is cake and coffee available every afternoon. Just lovely.

We came with a walking group called Adagio and took all the 8 rooms. We chose the holiday because the hotel looked so good and it exceeded our expectations. The rooms, the gardens, the leisure areas are all beautiful and there was a lovely attention to detail: fresh flowers, a pretty decorated water jar and glasses filled daily, a little bottle of milk in the fridge filled daily for the tea and ground coffee, detailed lists of local walks, honesty bar with great local wines etc. The gardens are beautifully tended and we could help ourselves to oranges and lemons. After our walks we really appreciated plunging into the pool and then soaking in the sun on our sunbeds. Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful - a truly great find.
