“Just wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean with fabulous luxury rooms! Big freestanding bath, large rain shower, giant comfy bed etc. We stayed for a week for our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for more. Room was beautifully decorated with petals on our arrival with fruit platter and champagne! Lovely food (we thoroughly enjoyed it all especially the fish and salads) and we had no problems getting sunbeds. Pool was just gorgeous, just the right temperature to cool off in the heat and the staff were great-friendly and helpful. Just the sort of low key, quiet and tranquil honeymoon we wanted. We will definitely be returning! Loved it all, don't be put off by the negative reviews-this hotel is fab :)

This was our first visit. Hotel cleanliness and lay out was excellent. It is very modern and mimilistic in design. The open bathrooms didn't work for us, although we became accustomed to it, however it did feel as though I was sleeping half in and half out of the bathroom. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar prices are what you would expect for this standard and the house wine at 16 euro a bottle seemed very good value. In addition, it has a great location, just a short walk from the beach and close to the local rail and bus stops. For us the walk into Lagos was ideal but it did take about 40 minutes.
Having visited hotels of this standard across lots of holiday destinations, I think the Yellow could improve in a few areas, although it may not bother lots of visitors.
We did not see evidence of any senior management in the bar or restauant. Waiter service in the bar was slow and the staff appeared to lack direction. Dinner dress code was very casual. Shorts were allowed but there was evidence of beach clothing creeping in which dropped the standards compared to other hotel experiences. It seemed to lack a restaurant manager. The food was good, plentiful and fresh but lacked a little imagination. The self service area seemed a little tighly packed and with a little reorganisation the process of getting your meal would be smoother.
You can take optional al a carte dinner in the Browns restaurant and this was first class food and service. Note that if you are on half board and you go to Browns you pay for it in full, rather than paying a supplement and get no allowance for your standard dinner (Thompsons did make a 15 euro per person contribution). Also, if you have dinner out of the hotel you cannot exchange dinner for lunch, even at the pool bar - something that is quite normal in other hotels.
Would we go back again? More than likely, yes, but would opt for Bed and Breakfast and have dinner in Browns or local restaurants, even if we had to travel into Lagos.

Room Tip: Sea view a real plus

I agree with other reviews the hotel design has the wow factor however the lights that wowed you on a night time as the hotel changed colour is no longer working, This is our second time here, the hotel has gone down hill and showing signs it needs a refurb not enough sun beds now and some of them in need of repair since our last visit and won't be returning, food is poor and a lack of staff, nobody around pool to get you drinks yes it's got wow factor but it does not deliver 5* service. It has become a chore to get into town taxis are few and far between and the hotel should provide a shuttle service for guests. There are no activities so it is like waiting for god during the day. There are no activities on an evening and again no atmosphere in the bar so be prepared to make your own entertainment. If your into architecture it's a wow if it service it's a No.

Room Tip: The rooms are wow but you don't live in the room when your on holiday. Ask for a see view as it...

This is a live review as we are still at the hotel enjoying our holiday . Firstly I would like to say that the rooms are beautiful and the pool areas are very smart with luxurious sun beds accompanied with mattress and pillow .The breakfast is great with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. The buffet evening meal has a superb salad selection and soup with a wide variety of artisan breads to choose from. The main course is two meat dishes / two fish dishes which are always of a good quality with a choice of pasta ,rice, potato and a vegetable selection. I am very fussy and I have enjoyed our evening meal . The best bit if you have a sweet tooth is the yummy sweets especially the gooey chocolate cake .However if you prefer cheese and crackers this is also a delight with a good choice including my favourite Stilton . The staff are friendly and very helpful. The only downside for me is the distance to the centre of Lagos but I knew this when I booked so can't grumble .

Just returned from a week at the Yellow. The hotel is gorgeous with its sleek lines of glass and white floors which offer the perfect back drop for the changing light colours in the corridors. The staff are polite and attentive and the hotel is kept very clean and fresh. we had a ground floor room with a patio and a day bed which was just perfect for us - we would definitely return if we could have the same room again.
We were a little worried about the food, having read some less than positive reviews before we went but we couldn't have been more surprised as there was loads of choice and the fish was particularly good with two choices each evening. salads were varied and interesting and the choice of breads was especially good. Drinks were a little on the expensive side but the choice of wine was extensive and we didn't taste a bad bottle all week. We ate once in the a la carte restaurant and has the Portugese tasting menu which was stunning.
Overall we had a simply wonderful holiday and would visit this hotel again.

What a getaway. Couples only hotel, no children, and a very peaceful location. I felt totally chilled out during my stay. The rooms are stunning, the food is good, and the service generally good. Great cocktails in the evening served by entertaining bar staff, and the daytime activities were based around food and drink. The pool temperature was rather cold which is the only down side as far as the hotel was concerned. Some of the night time entertainment was not so good particularly the accoustic singer. Would definitely go back there again.
