“Perfect for 1st visit to Algarve”
Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

My first visit to the Algarve was one I hesitated over, as I don't typically do or enjoy busy resorts... So after much researching (you wouldn't believe it), so Lagos it was, then checking a number of places to stay, the Cascade stood out, not so much because of Trip Advisor, but due to in my humble opinion a lack of competition at this level, specifically within walking distance to Lagos old town.

To the Hotel - when we arrived (early due to flight timings and a fairly quiet and excellent road connection from Faro), we were greeted by Ricardo at reception and his grace and manner were noticeable from the first moment (whereas we know he may use the same script with everyone) it was pretty much genuine. A nice drink to relax and whilst waiting for the room... we took in lunch and another drink or so...

The room/Apartment was well appointed (especially for watching the Dutch National team train, not sure they've the same chances as of last time). Great size, bathroom has heated floor and good toiletries, living area very adequate, kitchen is spacious and bedroom is fine - a bit tight, plenty of storage, although two single beds together is always an annoyance.
The balcony space is excellent as there is area all around the apartment, and there is a small roof terrace for the last of the Sun when the shade comes in.
Food in Senses is excellent and I have reviewed this on the restaurant site.

Nice option of pools, one with a beach bank, great for children I'm sure, the other in rear of the Hotel/Atlantic is larger and was never over populated. The small Spa pool seems better guarded against the Algarve breeze...

Everything is well appointed, good quality... ticked the boxes... would definitely recommend, Lagos area is good, with quality of food pretty much guaranteed.

Would I consider coming back? Yes, but perhaps only for 1 week at a time...

This was the best resort/hotel we have stayed in since the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (but let me also say that while Cascade was wonderful, it's still no FS Hualalai, pretty sure nothing can meet that). The service was friendly, helpful and gracious. The value for what we got was great. The location was beautiful. The room was spacious and luxuriously comfortable. The facilities and amenities were new, clean, functional and endless. We ended up here after booking and spending one night in a different hotel in Lagos that not only disappointing (promised a suite with a kitchenette, we received a small room with a 12inx12in mini fridge in the closet) but extremely uncomfortable and loud. After not being able or willing to do that for another night and scared that booking another budget hotel would result in the same, we splurged and booking at noon that day for a night at Cascade (the number one hotel in Lagos on many lists).

First the service. I regret that I've taken over a month to write this review because I have the most wonderful things to say about the woman who checked us in and made us comfortable at the hotel. A smile never left her face, and she was so genuinely nice (though I found this to be true about most of the people of Portugal). Since the trip was a celebration of one year wedding anniversary I had left a note about it when I made the reservations. Even though it was last minute they had complementary chocolates, cakes and strawberries a long with a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us in our room along with bowls of rose petals and candles by the bath tub. While they take your bags to your room you are directed to the bar which lead out to a huge upper level patio that looks over the cliffs and beach and given an drink your heart desires, again complementary.

I find the value decent because of the service, all the perks including free parking, bottled water, huge fruit bowl in room; the access to the facilities like gym, pool, beach; and lavish breakfast buffet which was included in our price. It was really good when you compare it too the crappy supposed 4* beach front resort we stayed at in Marbella, Spain a week later for almost the same cost.

The location is further from the central Lagos where the old area and the cobblestone streets are, but trust me it's loud there anyway. It's a five minute drive from Cascade to that area and less than 1.25 mile walk there. We ended up taking a cab one night since it was dark out, but I think the cab ride was less than 5 euro. The beach is a walk down the hill from the resort and a lovely one (like all of them in Lagos). The pool at the main hotel building is so serine and almost seems to bleed off the cliff at the edge when you're laying on your lounger.

The rooms are amazing, mainly because of the bathroom. The bed is large and comfortable (with turndown service). We had an ocean front second level so our large balcony looked clearly over the pool to the ocean. the bathroom wall that faces the ocean has shudders that open up so while you take a bath (with your Laoctaine products) you can look out over the ocean!

If are going to Lagos and looking to get spoiled, or just have the budget to stay there, book here.

Stayed here for a wedding 4 days lovely room over looking the pool area nice & quiet. Food for wedding best I had & breakfasts great selection too. Also nice touch of a chocolate cake & cava on room on arrival as it was a birthday. The staff couldn't do enough. Also there's a beautiful beach below the cliffs a bit if a trek down but worth it.

We spent a long weekend at this fantastic resort. Everything about it is quality. The ocean views, 3 great pools, relaxing drinks terrace, cosy bar, friendly staff and immaculate, spacious apartments. It helped that the Dutch football team were there too, preparing for the World Cup! Good enough for Louie Van Gaal, good enough for me! Can't wait to go back.

We stayed here a few months ago for a long weekend and we weren't disappointed. Our room was beautiful with a 4 poster bed , huge balcony with a view of the pool and sea beyond and a stylish modern well equipped bathroom. The common areas are very stylish and clean. The staff were extremely helpful booking restaurants and taxi's into lagos and the bar here was lovely for a pre dinner cocktail. It's a real gem . There's a spa hot tub and all the usual luxury add ons. 10/10 .

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view.

We stayed here for a family wedding. For a start the location is second to none. The view of the ocean is sublime. The hotel itself is very new but is beautiful and not too 'modern'. The staff here were so friendly, pleasant and nothing was a problem. The pools and gardens are gorgeous. Definitely a 5 star experience. Also the food is out of this world. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: An ocean view room is a must.
