The small church is a gorgeous example of high Baroque. The museum is old fashioned in presentation, rather eclectic in content, and a bit of a warren to navigate, but fun to wander around with all sorts of little treasures. There's something for everyone here whether you are interested in costumes, coins, social history, religion, etc.

This is a wonderful church, mass is said there each year on St Anthony's feast day, 13th June. The gold work is just amazing to see. The vestments are splendid. They also have a wonderful collection of old coins on view.

Interesting museum of folk life in the Algarve with models and exhibits that brought it all to life. All the exhibits and diaramas were well displayed, but the descriptions were very small and not best placed to read easily (especially in the low lighting. Separate rooms showed some military history and also archeology. The main attraction though is the church itself - an awesomely detailed and intricate gilded carving with some interesting paintings and architecture.

You would never imagine that for the unpreposessing outside the oppulent chapel is inside. There is so much gold on the walls and beautiful ceilings in the chapel. Also there is a painting on which if you look at the right shoe the feet seem to follow you.
