The entrance to the Church is through the museum next door which is also well worth a visit and described the history of the area, lots of models showing you what the Lagos was like when it was just a fishing village. We have never seen a Church interior as beautiful as this one, but unfortunately photos were not allowed and there was someone in the Church to make sure this rule was obeyed!

This site is well worth a visit. The museum is a great view of life in that part of the Algarve with a mixture of all historical lives of the people plus many articles from the stone age upwards. The church itself has to be seen to be believed the craftsmanship put into it.well worth it

Seeing the homeless outside of the church made us wonder how to enter. Once past them the inside is a very pretty church but nothing extremely out of the ordinary for an old town in Europe. Location is easy to find as it sits across from the slave trading center of town. Possibly worth a quick stop but nothing more.
