This hostel is one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff were even better, Meatloaf took the cake, he was so hospitable and friendly. They have an awesome outdoor area with beanbags and were you can just chill when you need to, because being in Lagos you will need chill time. I would recommend to stay at this hostel 100% if you go to Lagos!

Room Tip: I only stayed in the one room the whole time, number three I think it was and it was sweet!

Hostel is pretty cool, although a bit cramped. There aren't many communal areas you can sit in and not get rained on (which was the sitation when I stayed), however when it's good weather there is a nice outdoor area near reception. The staff are very friendly and seemed to refer to themselves as one big family, and perhaps staying in a dorm across the road interfered with that a bit, but I didn't get quite the same vibe... but it was still fun. There are organised trips to bars each night so I spent most of my time in Lagos nursing a hangover. It's a 10 min walk to the closest beach, but there is a supermarket nearby and it's a quick walk down into the main streets, which are overrun with shops selling souvenirs and restaurants with menus in 6 languages. The directions you are given through hostelworld.com are appalling and you will get lost if you arrive at night, so look it up on google maps before you try to navigate using their instructions.

Room Tip: Female dorm is in a separate building across the road

I came for a night and stayed for over a month and to blame are the beautiful, crazy fun loving staff. Every guest is made to feel welcome and apart of the lagos family. Everything you would want from a hostel, clean, interactive, great party vibe and importantly places to escape to when traveling becomes just that little bit overwhelming.

Room Tip: If want your own space or a quiet room ask to stay in the little shangri, located just across the road.

I loved my stay at this hostel and was sad to move on. The staff were awesome and very friendly introducing me to everyone when I arrived. The garden was the best part about the hostel, in all honesty I can't remember the rooms that well as when in Lagos party until you pass out :)
That said there was lots iof things to do which the staff would always be happy to give lots of information for those non party animals
Overall great vibe! Great value for money! Great staff!

We stayed at Shangri Hostel in Lagos during the summer 2011. We met fantastic people from all parts of the world. Lagos is small, touristic, but adorable !
The Hostel is perfectly located, 5 minuts away from grocery store (kitchen available !!), seconds away from all the bars and stores.
Staff is excellent and will recomend you the best spots in town.
There is breakfast included, and a great terrasse with couches and tables.
Living-room area with a tv, movies and books: very cozy
Bedrooms are clean, spacious and accomodating. Very safe !!
I don't remember if there was wi-fi, but definitely some laptops available.
