“Ok price, not ok food”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

I had a mixed fried fish and it was really bad actually.. some random fish (all of the same kind) fried with two small potatoes next to it.. and the wine tasted really standard.. would not recommend..

“Food, fun & fado”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

A Cascata, a small, family run portuguese restaurant is tucked away in the square near The Owl Bookshop. An ideal intimate space for a fun night of fado & food. On 30/5, 22 dinners where treated to very special fado, by Anna Marques & two magical guitarists. And all for 10€ p.p. including a fish or meat, home cooked, traditional Portuguese dish - be aware all drinks are EXTRA. Fado is twice per month on a Thursday. We shall return to try again in July.

“Tucked away, but lovely!”
Reviewed 24 May 2013

Between the old town walls and the famous Lagos "Padaria" is my own favourite town square - tiny, fringed by shady trees and old buildings - neglected now but speaking of a more glorious past - and here is A Cascata, a lovely little bar/restaurant that is such a welcome calm oasis in bustly Lagos. Fronted by Idalio, the owner, a charming host with good knowledge of local wines, the kitchen is his wife Lourdes' domain. Inside, it is small and cosy, with little tables, outside it is my favourite spot for a tranquil glass of (excellent) local vinho verde, some wonderful homebaked bread, olives, a tapa or two and just being. But this is not all! Twice monthly there will now be a live Fado night. We went to the first, 2 weeks ago, and had a fabulous night. A great male fadista, accompanied by two musicians, everyone clapping and singing, together with good food, wine and candle-lit tables - warm Portuguese hospitality doesn't come better than that.
