“5 minutes(by car) to Praia Dona Ana”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

This quiet hotel is a very good bedroom if you want an excellent quality/price ratio.
On the other side of the street there is a free public parking(capacity around 100cars).
Our room was clean, with a 14’’ TV(around 7 channels) and a balcony. It is perfect for 2 adults and a small child.
Breakfast is not much, we had the same things in all 5 days(croissants, butter, jam, coffee, some meats and sweet cereals).
WiFi is free and available at reception.
The strong point of the hotel is the short distance to the famous beaches(Dona Ana – around 3 minutes by car, Praia do Camilo – 4 minutes by car, Ponte da Piedade – 5 minutes by car and Porto do Mos – 5 minutes by car).
A supermarket and a restaurant is at 50m in the direction of those beaches(at the first round intersection). In the other direction, toward the citycentre there are some coffee shops and small restaurants and a Spar supermarket(opening hours 8 – 22).
The citycenter is around 10 minutes walking, full of restaurants and nice streets.
The personal at the hotel was very helpful.
No refrigerator or minibar in the room
No hair dryer

Stayed 1 night due to usual hotel being fully booked.

This is an older property in need of some tlc. The rooms are small and outdated with a small portable TV fixed high on the wall almost at ceiling height. The air con was noisy but effective. The bathroom really needs attention, especially the shower which was poor with no pressure. Two single beds were ok for an overnight stay.

Breakfast in the morning was adequate but needs fruit and yoghurt to make it a better experience.

Overall it was ok for a one night but does need investment.

Stayed at this hotel on a business trip during Algarve high seassion. It was booked by the travel agency.

Well… where do I start?
It’s an old hotel, 3 stars… but I don’t know if they deserve 3 stars.

The staff is friendly… well.. staff?!? I just saw the same girl… Don’t expect to many staff!
It only have wifi in the lobby.
The rooms are old. Very old. It’s not comfortable. The bed are terrible. Soft mattress, soft pillows… what a terrible night sleep.
The air conditioning is also old. Makes noise. Too noisy. The windows don’t stop the street noise. The TV are old. The remotes don’t work.
The bathrooms are old, with new pipes passing outside the walls. You don’t have water pressure.

It have a free parking for 10 cars.

The breakfast… god, terrible. The bread seems from the day before, no fruit, no yogurts, few cereals, mils and coffee, ham and cheese and this is it!

Not a good experience!

Room Tip: Avoid this place!

Not a good place to stay, unless you are under 30 and fit. The beaches are about 30 mins away. The town is about 15 mins going and 30 coming back. It is unbearable to walk so much in this heat. We ended up having lots of meals in the local Spar, about a 10 min walk. It is quite reasonable in there and the staff can,t do enough for you. The last 2 days I stayed in rather than walk in the heat. There is no pool here, I knew that , but also nowhere to sit outside in the shade, no garden or loungers. The hotel is old fashioned , tiles are chipped in bathrooms and sink. There is no snack bar you have to ask at reception for tea or coffee. There are no shops or bars close. You are sort of isolated, I cannot wait to get home, and I won,t come here again

Have just come back from such an amazing week in Lagos, Portugal staying at The Montemar hotel. The transfer took about 1.30 hours from Faro. If your like me you like to stay cheap and use your money for better things. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is basic only having pastry, ham, cheese, yogurt, cornflakes and jams to chose from, so I was missing the eggs n bacon but that's not the end of the world. The room as standard and basic, there is no kettle, no fridge, no hair dryer but you have a good shower, place to lay your head and a balcony. The hotel is only 15 mins walk from beach and 15 mins from the centre all easy to walk if you do not mind hills (or use the tuc tucs). There is a road outside the hotel that I've been running on before breakfast which is good. I highly recommend drinking places, The Eddie (live music) , The Jam (have rock night), Three Monkeys, The Garden and there is one with an outside screen sagers which is good. You can eat as expensive and as cheap as you want. Drink is around E4.00 for spirits n mixer and a sagres beer will set you back around E2.50, if you buy in the shop its Under E1.00, 1 litre of Sagres is E1.69. Spar food supermarket is 5 mins from hotel and well priced. Definitely go out on Days of Adventure kayak, really fun and the cave visits are amazing sights. Also if your into surfing call casa offshore a call they are 2 mins walk left from the hotel entrance Lote 2 - awesome people and fun!!! Oh if your into shopping I had a quick look as I'm not a shopper you'll be pleasantly surprised with the bargains you pick up.

Was made to welcome as soon as I arrived. On first impressions it does look as if it's stuck in a time warp but it is in tune with the local area of Lagos. Room was clean comfy and spacious. Breakfast was continental. Tasty enough but lacked a bit of variety. The staff were all well versed in English and were extremely helpful and polite. Location was good near to the old town and a cheap taxi ride to get back up the hill from the marina. All in all fantastic little hotel, highly recommended & I'd defiantly return.

We got the hotel at very low price with breakfast which was really good compare to the price we payed. The room was a bit small but enough for us, clean and comfortable with a balcony with a good view of the sea but the room was a bit old but it was okay. It's not in the city center but probably you can walk from there.
