“Food plentiful, good value, family friendly”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

Be sure to book, this place had a queue outside by 9pm! Since we have a little one we booked a 7:30pm table, there was a large party so it was a bit of a squeeze.

For starter I had a local delicacy - goose barnacles which were a pleasant experience, try them if you're feeling adventurous! Then I shared a fish and shrimp cataplana which is a local stew, very good indeed.

We couldn't finish all of the food and the bill came in at 23 euro per head (table of 9) which included wine and beer.

All in all a great experience, worth a visit for an authentic local experience.

“A surprise find!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

This little restaurant was a surprise find, a little gem! We popped our heads in as we were passing & were surprised to find it very busy, with both tourists & locals. They squeezed us in, with no booking & served us delicious Traditional Portuguese food. Will definitely be going back!

“Best Portuguese restaurant in Lagos!”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

If you only visit one restaurant in Lagos, make it this one!
Situated about ten minutes walk north of town centre, this friendly, family run restaurant is a must visit.
The restaurant has a cosy and warm atmosphere and is nicely decorated although quite small. There is seating for about 30 in total so advisable to book.
The restaurant is also popular with locals which is always a good sign.

There is an extensive menu of portuguese meat and fish dishes from simple grills to delicious stews such as cataplana (Meat and fish) and my favourite, diced pork Alentejo style (Pork stew with clams and roast potatoes). We also had two different steaks which were very nice although make sure you tell them how you like them done while ordering.
Desserts were all home made, mainly mouses and trifles which were all excellent.
The staff (family who run it) were very friendly and helpful, recommending an excellent reasonably priced red wine and offering some lovely local sweet and liqueur delicacies after our delicious meal.
Price for four main courses, four desserts and two bottles of wine was 84 Euros. You won't find better quality, service and value in Lagos!
Personally I can't wait to go back.

“Traditional Portuguese restaurant serving great food in a lovely atmosphere...”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We chose this restaurant based on the Wonderful Trip Advisor reviews it had received. We got a taxi straight to the door of the restaurant which is a little off the beaten track..in a largely residential area...it's quite small and all of the tables were reserved. Luckily We had a reservation. A few locals eating here which is always a good sign. The waitress was very friendly and took our order promptly..she suggested a wine I might like...and let me have a taste before ordering...tapas for starter were very simple but tasty..the fish cataplana was delicious (but be warned there are lots of bones!) we had two lovely desserts, my husband had a couple of beers, I had 2 glasses of wine and coffee and the bill was just over €40...delighted we chose this genuinely authentic Portuguese restaurant while on holidays in Lagos...

“A must during your visit in Lagos!”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 via mobile

The service, atmosphere and food was outstanding. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and makes the whole experience very cosy and intimate. The family who run the restaurant are very friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes for that evening. Our Fish and Shrimp Caldeirada was the best dish we have had on our trip so far. It was also very reasonably priced and were very generous portions. Highly recommend.
