5 star hotel - great place right on the beach - nothing too much trouble - free room service/ daily maid/ great dining - reasonable prices

If you get room service don't leave it on the balcony - the seagulls use the thermals to circle the hotel eyeing up the booty - when you are out they swoop - we returned one afternoon - it was like a gang of hells angels had been partying on our balcony ! Hilarious ! -great room service - sorted in 2 minutes

Room Tip: go for a balcony floor 3 -5 facing the beach

We have just returned from a weeks full board. The hotel is beautiful, spacious and spotlessly clean in all areas. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. There was a choice of 2 dishes on each of the 3 courses for lunch and evening meal but you can pay extra and choose from the main menu. Although at lunch time we didn't have the 3 courses, mainly as it took so long to get served and for the food to arrive, so would recommend half board. For breakfast there was plenty to choose from hot & cold. Be prepare to wait for your food, a couple time it took upto 2 hours. And it was out of season. and sometime the meals ordered were wrong as the waiters hadnt understood what we'd ordered. The show in the Casino was very good which we could watch for free as we were eating.
They provide pool towels and a lovely parrot with say hello to you in the morning, she lives near the spa. The beach is clean with water activities.
We walked to the old Port which took 40 mins. and 4 euro return in a taxi.
Special hello to Tatina in the lunch restaurant she was a star**

Good 5 star hotel in a great location for bars and restaurants nearby (we nicknamed it The Strip). Fantastic beach right out front down a good few steps. Smart pool area with plenty of beds and umbrellas. Everywhere in hotel was very clean and tidy. We found all staff very pleasant and helpful from check in to check out. Great cocktails served to us on the balcony overlooking pool and beach before going out to dinner. We only booked B & B because we like to eat and drink out in these situations. Breakfast buffet was only ok, I didn't touch the scrambled eggs once. Some good restaurants on The Strip, specially Café del Mar.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for sea view.

Just returned after a week in this hotel & we will not be returning. I had read so many good reviews on this hotel, but we did not experience many positive things with this hotel. Firstly I will say the location, pool area & proximity to beach were excellent. We never have had any problems getting sun lounges by the pool, the pool staff, bar staff & breakfast staff were all very friendly & welcoming. However the reception staff were some what different, the service varied from out right rude to very friendly, each day was a different person at reception and it was hit and miss. We had a number of problems with our room, Air-con not working, room was freezing cold & the air con unit was making noises all night on our first night- it took 3 calls to reception to get this problem resolved, to which we asked to change rooms, but there was no apology from the woman at reception, all she kept saying was maintenance will look at the room and no room change was offered. So this was very surprising to us as we have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and a room change at this point should have been offered at least.

Other problems we had were at breakfast on two occasions we had to endure a face call conversation on loud speaker & skype call conversation beside us to which everyone around them could hear the whole 10/15 min conversations with their families. I really think the staff should have asked the guests to either have their conversations in the lobby or either take off the loud speaker!! I thought this was extremely rude of the other guests with no consideration for the guests who were sitting next to them. Obviously we were allocated seats at breakfast so it wasn't like we could change seats!

Last problem, we had a leak in our ceiling which we only noticed on the third last evening, liquid was dripping down on the floor. This was related to the original air con problem to which we then had to change rooms. At this point we met a very friendly lady at reception who was very apologetic and upgraded us to a sea view room. We then received a fruit hamper to apologise.
But this was all a bit too much to late. If we had changed rooms with the first problem after the first night and had met this lady then maybe our opinion would be very different now.

Then the final rude man at reception on departing this morning, he barely made eye contact with me as I approached the desk, I dropped down the four key cards and explained we had to change rooms ( as to explain why I was giving him 4 key cards), to which he said " I know".... nothing more! he took the cards & walked away. How unprofessional is that!!! Never in my life have I experienced this type of service from a 5 star resort.

We were very impressed with the Casino Hotel. In my opinion, it is a good 5* tourist hotel. They have all avenues covered and they are very good at what they do. The staff were helpful and professional at all times and the rooms, common areas, grounds and pool areas are spotlessly clean and are maintained throughout the day to a very high standard.

Breakfast was plentiful and there was a wide choice.

We had a sea view room (extra cost), however, this was so worth it, the view is amazing! We sat out every evening, soaking up the sea air.
I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area – we got a good deal on Travel Republic.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must!

Just returned from yet another fantastic stay at this wonderful hotel situated on the best beach in the Algarve if not Europe. The staff and service as always were wonderful, food excellent and the sunset vista from the terrace of the Sunset Bar has to be experienced to be believed. The show is an excellent nights entertainment and the dancers are amazing. Bedrooms are large especially compared to modern build hotels and the balconies with sea view are also spacious well worth the extra. The main pool is salt water and one of the best I have swum in. There are many local restaurants that are worth trying specialising in traditional Portuguese dishes as well as fresh fish two particularly worth mentioning are Senhora da Rocha on the beach and Marisqueira which is just around the corner from the hotel. Another must is Ferraguda just across the river a beautiful town with many good restaurants there is a regular river taxi service to get you over there. Can't wait for my next visit!

Room Tip: Sea view room is a must
