Fantastic holiday. Great apartment for the price. The staff had considered the fact we had two young children and gave us a ground floor apartment. Very nice staff.
Nice and clean and spacious. Kitchen utensils a little basic. Other than that the apartment was superb. Huge patio area, 2 bathrooms. Microwave, hob, kitchen table, tv, plenty of wardrobes and seats. Very comfortable and clean.
3 pools, table tennis, tennis courts, mini golf, spa, hairdressers, shop, cafe, bar, pools x 3, vending machines. Large lobby with loads of sofas and wifi.

Ideal as we were only a 5 minute taxi ride (5-7 euros) from Portimaio, Praia and Alvor. A 10 minute walk away from a beach.

I would say it's ideal for a family holiday if you like having a bit of variety and exploring little towns.

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel.

My top tips:

Slide and Splash water park is a must for all the family if you like the slides

All Beef restaurant in Praia for an evening of fine dining.

We were self catering and on day 1 we stocked up in Continente in Praia. A large supermarket. Breakfast and lunch and more sorted for a family of 4 for a week for 90 Euros. I wouldn't recommend all inclusive or half board. (To be fair we didn't see he restaurant as it wasn't open as we were out of season, mid April)

Ideal, I would definitely return. Weather last week 10th April was excellent. 22 degrees. 5/7 days lovely sunshine, pool weather. Other 2 days just a bit cloudy.

The Holiday-

I went on holiday to Portugal with my wife, three kids aged 10, 7 and 3 arriving on April 9th and returning back to the UK on April 16th 2014 spending a week on HB bases we were placed in a studio room on the ground floor

Accommodation -

No major complaints here as we had a fridge freezer, microwave, ironing board at our beck and call. The room was spacious for our energetic kids and sound proof too. On arrival I noticed a broken electric socket reported it and it was changed in a flash. The room contained a bedroom with two beds, another two beds in the main area with a sofa bed. If you love your telly then I hope you fancy sky news channel or True life channel as they were the only two English speaking channels. A couple of Portuguese channels and a Dutch one for added measure. The highlight for the kids watching Phineas and Ferb in Portuguese!

Entertainment-

Sorry to inform you that it was pretty much non-existent. There was however crazy golf and table tennis both free. Also lawn tennis for a few bob, spa treatment with its own swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi cheap as chips also game of pool at one euro a pop

For everyone-

There are three outdoor swimming pools of various sizes to suit various individuals none really of deep depth. The smallest one is a paddling pool suitable for my 3 year old. My other two kids could swim in any of the other two as they are good swimmers

Adhoc-

On the premises are a couple of vending machines and internet cafes. TV in the lobby with Wi-Fi only in this area

Food-

Breakfast and Dinner was repetitive. Breakfast was coco pops or cornflakes for the kids along with orange, pineapple juice from the juice machine.Adults had scrabbled eggs( not the prettiest you will ever see) hot dog kind of sausages, bacons, croissants, toast with butter or jam, slices of cakes- as much as you can eat fruits

Initially the dinner was three square meals type which also included the kids but no kids menu. I complained that my kids will not sit and have mushroom soup followed by swordfish and potatoes with dessert of cheesecake. All changed and fish fingers, chicken nuggets along with chips was what the kids ate nearly every night. The adults menu changed to buffet style but again repetitive so either fish, meat, chicken or the whole lot with chips or potato, salad was in a abundance. What wasn't was the dessert. They have a habit of not offering it to you if you do not ask for it! You have been warned!

Trips-

With 3 young kids we organised our own trips around Portugal. An historical day out to Seville for shopping and a tour was never going to cut it for us!
We visited Portimao and the sardine museum and also the Pedagogical farm also in the same area this was free, the visit to the museum cost 4.5 euros for us as a family. We had lunch at Burger Ranch- their answer to burger king. From the hotel it cost about 7-8 euros

We visited Alvor and strolled to the harbour end on a fabulous day with the average weather at 21c. At Alvor we too the kids to Reino Encantado - a place for kids to play indoors and out for 3 euros an hour. To this town from the hotel it was about 8 euros

Snacks were reasonably priced i.e 2.50 euros for a ham and cheese toasties. soft drinks can be more pricey

Slide and Splash-
If you have young kids like ours then you just have to visit Slide and Splash located in Lagoa. We got a fantastic deal and had a blast of a time- adults kids we all enjoyed the day! Also a must is a trip to the Beach in da rocha

Would I go back to Portugal? Yes maybe later in life as we have other countries to visit with the kids. But a trip to Portugal and Praia Da Rocha you simply cant go wrong!

Room Tip: ground rooms are quiet and convenient for families with young children like us with the youngest chi...

Stayed at Estrela do Vau at the beginning of April 2014. The apartments were almost deserted as it was probably not a busy time of year. Stayed in a self-catering studio for 4 nights. The apartment was clean and well maintained and had everything needed.
The building had 2 long power cuts while we were there. One lasted a full day. While this was happening, the staff provided us with free drinks and a free dinner to make up for it. We were also allowed free use of the spa area, which I would not have bothered paying for otherwise.
There was free internet available in reception and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pool was fairly clean, but not enough for me to want to swim in it.
There was nothing happening in the area surrounding the apartments. We visited the nearby area of Praia Do Rocha, which is either a 20-30 minute walk or a €5-7 taxi ride. Praia Do Rocha has a small selection of bars, restaurants, shops and a nice beach.

The weather was fairly poor every day except the day we went home.

I think we would have been better off going later in the year for both the weather and the general liveliness of the area.
We passed through Albufeira on our journeys to/from the airport and it looked like a much busier and more interesting place to be.

Room Tip: All rooms are probably about the same.. We had a room facing the pool and had good sunlight

Great place, loved the people. Very clean. Lack of entertainment but most of the staff really nice.
Nice location, you can just walk to the beach. Ten minutes walking or even less.
I would go back and recommend to all my friends. Just don't eat in there, the food is really bad.

Our second visit and it won't be our last. Fantastic apartment and fantastic location. Two bed roomed, two bathroom apartment, offering both bath and shower, access to large balcony from both bedrooms and kitchen. Everything you need, clean and comfy. Short walk to fantastic beach or cliff top walks, walk along beach to Praia do roache for restaurants all reasonably priced. Fantastic weather, 25 degrees to 33degrees in October, I can't find anything to fault, can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlooking the pool are quiet with a lovely holiday atmosphere.

The beaches which are a few minutes drive away are really lovely. You cannot fault the apartment, very nice, clean, staff very nice, views over looking golf. Had a great stay.
There is wifi on the premises. The supermarket has very little in it and rather costly.

Looking forward to our next visit.
