The Furnas Lagoon is beautiful and the Furnas are a natural attraction that you cannot miss. You must have the cozido for lunch. It is just delicious!

We got here by car from Ponta Delgada - breathtaking sceneries on the winding roads up to the valley. We stopped by the steaming and boiling wells by the end of the lake. You may cook your own meal in the groundovens there but it takes many hours. Picnic tables and common grills are available at many places. The village is nice and has some restaurants close to the big church and town square. The main attraction is the magical garden of Terra Nostra with the large stone pool of warm yellow water - the fountain of Youth! Bring swimwear and spend some time there. Stroll the great garden! The hotel Terra Nostra looked also nice and we heard the had a good restaurant.

Sweet little town with volcanic caldeiras (steam and boiling areas), hot springs, and very walkable.

Well worth the beautiful misty drive up the mountains towards the middle of Sao Miguel. Landscapes was breathtaking and one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The vistas wrap you in it's beauty. A must see if you visit Sao Miguel.

What an amazing thing to experience. The next time we go back, we will order a boiled dinner cooked in the restaurant. I was glad to capture a family who had ordered one, so my family got to see how it was done.
