The front desk was very accommodating when I arrived from my 6 am flight - they allowed my to check in early - which was amazing! The room was very nice - it looks like it may have been recently updated. Beds and bathroom were very clean. Mini fridge in room was a nice touch. The rate included a breakfast - it was really nice! Lots of selection. The pool looked great - but I didn't get to use it. If you need a hair dryer you have to ask at the front desk and they give one to you. Wifi worked great! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The hotel used to be a school and the theme is maintained through the names of, and the mathematical wallpaper in, some rooms. The main areas are very nice and the staff quite helpful. Our bedroom, however, was a little bit tired, particularly the bathroom, and the walls are very thin. If we spoke more foreign languages, we could have followed conversations in neighbouring rooms clearly. When the room next door flushed their toilet or drained a bath, it sounded as if it was happening in our bathroom. The location is only a few minutes walk from the old centre, the front, restaurants, etc which is a bonus. Although the streets are very narrow, they are busy. On our last night, we were woken several times by passers by who had clearly been partying near by. Breakfast is good with hot and cold options. The tea is completely tasteless but the coffee is good. We were happy enough staying here but will look for somewhere that has been modernised throughout if we ever go back.

Rooms ok but strange plastic undersheet arrangement on the bed. Breakfast fine but a bad arrangement with hot food /drink near the exit and a step. Reception staff very helpful in a critical moment. Location for city centre and botanical gardens is excellent.

We spent a week here and it was a great experience. The front desk service was exceptional and they could not do enough to assist us in any request.
We had a superior room with balcony and could see over the red tiled roofs and out to the ocean. It was comfortable and the king bed had high quality linens and was super comfortable. Great tub and shower and bidet. Also a mini fridge to chill wine etc.
Buffet style breakfast was ok..could use some granola and fresh fruit like bananas and their delicious pineapple. There was a big bowl of cut up fruit as well as yoghurt but honey seemed in short supply. Lots of hot coffee and tea and of course their famously delicious banana bread!!There was alsk free underground parking if you had a rental and there was a space.
Would not stay anywhere else!!
Hope we can come back again.

We have been to Sao Miguel 5 times and stay at Colegio each time. Very clean rooms, staff is warm and accommodating. We always rent a motorcycle while on the island, so the underground garage is a plus. The breakfast is perfect with traditional Portuguese offerings of breads, meats, cheeses, fruits, as well as hot eggs & bacon. The banana and orange breads are superb! As an American, I truly appreciate the large urn of coffee so I can have a big cup of coffee! So hard to find in the Acores! We’ve never even thought of staying anywhere else!
