If you want to stay right in the center of Aveiro with a view on one of the canals, this is a good hotel to consider. It is not the cheapest, but it is fairly luxuries and the rooms are very nice and sizeable. Also, the rooms are very well isolated (two windows) to block out any noise from outside. However, if you prefer to sleep with fresh air, thus open window, the noise from partying people around is very bad. Now, we are certain this isn’t any better staying in another hotel in the center. The staff is good, but try to ‘sell’ the luxury of the hotel and come across a little pretentious which we felt is not necessary as we started to get to know the Portuguese as friendly and helpful people. Also while the interior of the hotel is very nice, the hallways are very dark and limited lighting. Breakfast is fine, but uneventful. Also the one person staff is too few to handle both clearing/cleaning the tables and refilling the buffet, in order to give much attention to guests who may like to order additional breakfast items.

Room Tip: Beware that there are lots of restaurants around, thus noise from the streets can be substantial. T...

We stayed here overnight while touring Portugal and wished we`d had time to stay longer as it was so special. The welcome was wonderful. Our room was not ready so we were given a free upgrade to the bridal suite complete with a four-poster swathed in white silk. We had a complementary welcome glass of port with special sweets from Aveiro and afternoon tea later. Our room overlooked one of the pretty canals in this interesting town. The staff were very professional and extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was the best we had anywhere in Portugal. There were loads of different cheeses and hams to choose from and plenty of fresh fruit. Attention to detail throughout this lovely hotel was spot-on. It is a privately run hotel and the owner is very proud ,and rightfully so, of what has been accomplished here.

Room Tip: Our room was in the front overlooking the canal and was perfect.

Great little hotel with lovely rooms - we had a room on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel and the little square and the canal. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast was good - we parked right outside the hotel and walking around town was great. The hotel recommended a place for dinner that was really good - we like fresh fish and it certainly was ! - O Batel

Very good hotel centrally located with easy highway access. Well appointed and clean with extremely helpful staff and a very nice bar off of the lobby. Street noise non-existent and many terrific restaurants close by. Parking is a challenge!

Aveiro is a lovely town full of canals which are visible from the hotel. Travelling in a group I had the opportunity to see quite a few rooms and all are different in style which the owners have taken a great deal of care over. Some might be accused of having rather too many pelmets and soft furnishings out of a "Hello" shoot but it is all down to personal taste. I had a lovely balcony overlooking the canals and the centre of town can be reached in seconds.
There are some nice touches, such as a complimentary cup of camomile tea left at bedtime.
Breakfast was varied and good quality and the service was fine.
One minor complaint, it was impossible to shower without flooding the very big bathroom as the shower was situated in the bath and there was no enclosure apart from a glass screen in the wrong place.
I didn't have dinner there but the food has a good reputation & there are many interesting restaurants minutes away in the town.

This hotel was very easy to reach in the entrance to Aveiro. The staff was super friendly offering to help us find free parking space in front of the hotel. They offer a welcome drink of port wine or sparkling rose with "ovos moles", confortable 1pm check out, fabulous rooms, confortable beds, friendly staff, great location...everything a 4 star hotel should be and at a great price. Recommended.
