Finding veggie food in Portugal is not far short of impossible, unless you are happy to survive on cheese, bread and basic salads.
We found this restaurant in Visneu, Northern Portugal, however, which has a short veggie menu, but the chef is prepared to provide other options on request. It is basically Italian-style food, e.g. pasta but everything we ordered was delicious and very well prepared.
There is plenty of choice for non-vegetarians too.
Vegan food may be more of an issue, as the pasta may well have been egg-based, but non-dairy sauces were provided for those of us who wanted them.
Staff are friendly, welcoming and the chef speaks English, as he worked in London for a while. Useful, as we had only very basic Portuguese!
The dessert trolley has to be seen and the tiramisu was by far the best I have tasted outside of Italy.
Food and wine competitively priced.
