“gone ...gone ...gone”
Reviewed 24 May 2012

We were in Cascais last week ( May 16th to 22nd)
Noticed no signs outside as we were having a drink on the terrace of the hotel Baia..
Walked up to site. No menus on display, no furniture on terrace, blinds at windows down.
2 builders working on roof replacing tiles..
No explanatory sign indicating whether going to re open or not, me thinks recession
got the better of them.Cascais restaurants were noticably quiet even at weekend. Hasn't
stopped prices shooting up at those open....

“Beyond expectation”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

Nuno and Luis provided not only terrific service but a wonderful experience. As first-time visitors to Casais we were thrilled to have chosen this perfectly located restaurant. We will make it our reason to return to Cascais.

Something to remember!. The restaurant is right on the ocean. Superb food, It's not cheap!.
My partner and I were eating at one of the front tables overlooking the ocean. When we arrived there was just another couple eating. When we left was filled with more than half of its capacity.
One of us ordered a tasting menu which consisted of a first: a great!!! (Warm cream of broad beans and mint, poached quail egg and crumble), a fish (Sautéed skate with perfume of our Portuguese fish stew), meat: (Roasted Pork tenderloin, fifteen, pak choi and beetroot with sweet potato chips) and dessert (mascarpone and praline caramel sauce duet with).
The other -out from de menu- asked for a first: Sautéed octopus, confit sweet potato, roasted garlic cream and bell peppers, a main course: Ox tenderloin, caramelized vegetables, mushrooms and foie gras on toast and a dessert: Banana clafoutis, pina colada ice cream and pomegranate Slushee.
Also we shared warm bread, apetizzers, and "pre-dessert apetizzer"
Stunning cooking and presentation !!!!!.
Yes, you have to wait a bit .... because the dishes are made at the moment!.
I will remember that banana dessert as something .... Incredible!.
We did not Have wine just beer.
Oh yes ..... we will come back and if you stay around the area .... you should go !!!!!

Nice fixed-price lunch, but choices were not excellent on the day we ate there.

“Amazing view, nice food, but no ambience!”
Reviewed 1 November 2011

The Chef João Antunes and his wife Rita are the owners, really nice people and a known Chef. The food is great but I have to agree that the service is a bit slow and most of the times the restaurant as few people. It's not cheap.
