This hotel was plonked in the middle of nowhere (because it's a 1km walk from the main road to get to the actual property). With that said, it's perfect if you want peace and quiet. Rooms are best described as minimalist chic: Clean lines, no frills, open plan elegance. We went in late Spring so the bare, uncarpeted floor was a bit of a nuisance (fear not -- bedroom slippers are provided!). Service wise the staff are helpful and friendly. They make the best hot chocolate this side of Lisbon and the breakfast spread was commendable! We love the local cheese and every effort they made to provide local and seasonal fruits. The walk out of the hotel to the main road for some fun run or bicycling (you can rent a bike form the hotel) is pleasurable, and the scenes of Cascais' dunes and beach front is of course why we all come here. But that's just about it. It's a good hotel, no faults, but no lasting impression, either.

The location of Cascais is magnificent already itself, but this wonderful hotel adds to the drama. modernly designed, luxury hotel was a great way to spend a windy, cloudy business trip. rooms were special enough to accommodate 2 people with lots of luggage. liked the place a lot. not cheap, but the surroundings, accommodation and beautiful spa&gym are worth.

We stayed at the Oitavos for a long weekend to discover the beautiful area of the Lisbon coast. The Oitavos is a wonderful property which offers everything a sophisticated traveller is looking for. The rooms are huge and offer a stunning view over the ocean and dunes or golf course. The breakfast buffet with the wide choice of fresh fruits and juices is outstanding! The setting of this new contemporary hotel could not be any better...it stands in the middle of the dunes right next to the golf course (a must for all golfers!!) and the sea. The high ceiling windows are spectacular. Besides the spa and the wonderful outside pool we visited the tennis center and the stables nearby. There are plenty of things to do...we rented a car to explore to visit the beaches, the city of Lisbon and beautiful villages like Sintra or Cascais. One of the big assets of the hotel is the staff! All of them were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. They always had a smile on their face which shows that they must be very happy in their surrounding.

The Oitavos Hotel, for it's luxury, for it's location, (accessibility to Golf & Sea) and unique characteristics make it the Top place to recommend in Cascais. I am Portuguese, I live 10 minutes away from Cascais and still thought it was worth trying out the hotel for a night (as a local, this is not something I generally do!!) The cherry on the cake from my trip was to go the kitchen where you can see the cook preparing dinner and then sit there for the meal!

Room Tip: A room with a view!!!!

Few can relate to this part of the world as I can, but I'm sure that every single person will be amazed with the beauty of this place. If you need to get out of the city and rest from all daily stress with your better-half or your family, this is the place to be.
Eat, sleep, dream, enjoy the quietness of this super hotel with fantastic rooms with sea and golf views, most beautiful infinity pool and exquisite spa. Not to mention the amazing staff ready to serve you.

Room Tip: ask for corner rooms!!!
