“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

We spent four days staying at this hotel which is in a wonderful position with views of the sea and the excellent golf course. There happened to be two conferences being held whilst we were there but they did not interfere with our enjoyment of the hotel. The rooms are large & spacious with comfortable beds & pillows. The staff are all very helpful and charming and the breakfasts were delicious with a large choice of foods. We went to several excellent local restaurants overlooking the sea which the hotel had recommended as well as eating a tapas meal in the hotel. The pool is an infinity one where there was a nice breeze and you are able to eat lunch beside with lovely views. Cascais is nearby and definitely worth a visit as well as enjoying wonderful walks along the beaches watching the surfers riding the waves. It is a very unspoilt area and yet is very close to Lisbon. Definitely worth a visit and we will be returning.

Every single aspect of the hotel bedroom, lounge area, bathroom, separate shower room, loo and balcony had been planned for maximum comfort and usability. The open plan design was innovative and gave you a feeling of great space and light. The bed was enormous and so comfortable. From a techie point of view, you couldn't have more sockets (including UK 3-pin) and USB ports. There was masses of storage space in the room. The balcony was huge, with a large sofa and two chairs, with a lovely view. The outdoor infinity pool with seawater was great to swim in. The two sinks, separate shower with an overhead and separate hand-held shower, enormous bath, separate hi-tech loo with inbuilt bidet were great. The room was quiet and the entire hotel had a beautiful calmness, with clean lines. A great place to relax.

We stayed at The Oitavos as part of a wedding party for 5 nights. To say we had a great stay would be understating it.

Our room was modern, new and clean with beautiful balcony view of the golf course and coast line. The hotel itself was quiet and peaceful with emphasis on a relaxing atmosphere.
The amenities including an outdoor and indoor pool, spa and saunas were fantastic and well utilized by our party.

However, what makes Oitavos one of our favorite destination experiences was the impeccable service provided by a professional, patient and friendly staff. Be it the front desk, restaurant or room service staff, our requests were always greeted with an eager and whole-hearted effort to assist us.

I lost my phone when in Sintra, which was found by another tourist. The Oitavos staff went out of their way to assist me in retrieving it. To the point where one of the staff actually drove out and picked it up for me.

If you are travelling to Cascais, I would recommend you stay at the Oitavos.

This is mainly a golf resort that caters to the needs of non-golfers. Situated on the outskirts of Cascais, next to the ocean, the hotel is built on a large expanse of sea dunes. The architecture is modern, with clean lines and simple, yet attractive, decoration. The rooms are big, with numerous amenities, but still cozy. The common areas are large and well lit. The bar and the restaurant are pleasant and relaxing. There's even a pool table and a piano for common use. Finally, the gym, although small, is modern and well equipped.
This is still a relatively new hotel, so some teething problems are still to be found, but nothing to worry (e.g. the stickers for warm and cold water were switched in the shower). However, as the owners explained, this is a family endeavor with a long history, whose pinnacle is this hotel.
The hotel is near a couple of lighthouses, a Moorish castle and a couple of beaches - enough for a day's exploring of the area. Sintra is visible on the mountain side and the village of Cascais is a few minutes drive.
Worth noting is the fact that all the personnel in the bar and the restaurant spoke excellent English.
All in all this is a good effort.

Room Tip: Because of the architectural design, all rooms have a view over the ocean. Naturally, corner rooms h...

It's the perfect place to stay in Cascais. The hotel is located in a small hill not far from the ocean. Our room was huge, very comfortable and we were able to enjoy a fantastic sea view from the balcony. We are definitely coming back.

We stayed for four days. We enjoyed the relaxing and quiet atmosphere.
There were always plenty of chairs at the pool. The rooms were very large and modern, though we did not care for the bathroom- it was quite exposed.
Our whole family took advantage of the spa services which were reasonably priced and very good.
The breakfast was included in our room rate and was wonderful- we really enjoyed the eggs made to order.
I recommend paying in advance so you can have 4 nights for the price of 3, as we did.

Seems to be a major problem at this hotel relating to wifi. It was available in some rooms but not in mine. One could understand the problem existing for a few hours, but this issue has continued for days. It is deeply frustrating if you are trying to work, or keep in contact with colleagues/family.

The staff are perfectly friendly, and have offered access at certain times to space in business centre at certain times - but there's a world of difference between that, and reliable wifi in a room (as advertised). They say they're pursuing the problem, but there does not seem any real sense of urgency, or commitment to providing full service for which a guest has paid.

It's a smart enough place, but not smart enough to figure out how to provide backup wifi.

So, if you don't need wifi, fine. But if it's important to you, be aware that reliable wifi could be a very real problem here. And do not accept imprecise assurances that the problem is being looked into.

Room Tip: Insist that they guarantee wifi before you book!

Please accept our apologies for your experience with our Wi-Fi service and for all the inconveniences it may have caused you.

We did in fact experience lack of wi-fi in some of the rooms of 01 floor for more than a week but throughout the rest of the entire hotel the WI-FI was on and working. This happened due to the fact that one of the signal distribution antenna for that part of the hotel was down and needed to be replaced, which was immediately reported to the service provider (the only authorized company,in accordance to insurance liability, to work on the antennas) .Unfortunately, much to our disappointment the service provider wasn’t able to solve the problem within a suitable time frame.
However as you rightly pointed out there was no backup system, so thank you for bring this up to our attention as we will put in place such backup system asap, on order to avoid situations like the one you’ve described.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to recall that at The Oitavos the Wi-Fi service is included on the room rate, it’s available in all the hotel areas including outdoor pool and there’s no need to enter a password or any sort of code or username. Once you’re on hotel grounds your automatically logged to the hotel Wi-fi which is a broad band, state of the art infrastructure that translates into a very fast navigation web experience and an high download capability.

We sincerely hope you give us the pleasure of another visit.
