Was taken to this restaurant by colleagues who live locally. It was a great choice. The food was excellent and the service very good. The main seating area for the restaurant is on the first floor and is a small cozy room well appointed and comfortable. The food and wine were all typical Portuguese and were really well prepared and very tasty. Would definitely recommend this to others.

In the area of this place there are a lot of the same restaurants, all with menus in 12 languages and basically the same food. O Poeta does have a bit of teh standard menu but the place really looks much better and the food (we had the steak on the stone) was really good. Maybe slightly more pricey that the other places on the square but in our opinion worth it

We came from Lisbon to spend a day in Cascais and have dinner. After a nice walk around the town it came time for dinner. Normally we try to find some out of the way places, but it was a gloomy day and we felt a need to be around some festive atmosphere so we decided to look around the main restaurant area. The owner of this place seemed friendly and there were a number of people eating already so we gave it a try.
Good choice. Service was friendly, attentive but not overbearing.
My mojito was excellent and the food that followed was very good. I had Portugese Steak, very tasty and pretty tender. My wife had grilled chicken which she liked very much. My daughter loved her grilled seabass. My recommendation for almost any restaurant along the seacoast is go with fish. I found this especially true in Portugal.
One of the waiters was Russian and my wife had a nice chat with him and got some good ideas for side trips.

As we prefer dinner conversation without having to compete with unwanted music we loved this restaurant. We sat upstairs, over-looking the square, out of the crowd, with delicious food and very friendly, helpful service. We had to wait for one of our number to join us but the waiter accommodated our various requests for some food first then a wait etc. Nothing was too much trouble and it all tasted delicious - highly recommended.

O Poeta certainly stands out, predominantly due to the colour of its stone work. The outdoor dining area is located in central part of the square and as such gives a great vantage point.

In terms of the food, my partner was quite taken with the salmon. Service is efficient and the restaurant is by no means overpriced.

All in all an enjoyable meal although the location may be a bit touristy for some.
