“Windy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Although is a beautiful beach with lots of space, I found it to be very windy. Windy enough for the sand to blow and hurt your legs. I have been there many times, never did I not find a day without wind. BEWARE OF THIEVES. While taking pics, my car's window got broken and they took my beach bag + other things. They are quick!!

“Dramatic windy beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

The beach itself is both large and has fantastic waves.

We cycled from Cascais for the day and it took about an hour for two of us who had not been on bikes for years. There is a cycle path most of the way.

We visited in July and the water was ok to visit but the temperature meant that you soon warmed up on the sand.

The beach was relatively quiet on a Tuesday late morning so is perfect for those who want space away from other people. We didn't visit the dunes but I believe they would also be great if you want sunbathing and not waves!

As a word of caution .. Guincho has very large waves and correspondingly strong currents. There are lifeguards, but you should be careful if going in the water.

“Lovely beach”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

It really depends what you want from a day at the beach. The beach was great and good surf if you like biggish waves. A lot of surfers were there and there is a surf school. The lay out chairs were expensive at 7 euros each for half a day and the bar Guincho was average at best and expensive. Might be best to go to the other end of the beach. Great swathes of sand so brilliant for children.
