“Excellent sea-side break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

This was a delightful find. The hotel is about 45 minutes from Lisbon airport and 30 minutes train journey from Lisbon station. It is centrally located in Cascais, surrounded by a sandy beach and has a glorious sea view from the bar/lunch terrace. The staff gave exceptional service. One of our party broke his arm as we were leaving for the airport. Having been transferred to hospital for an operation, the hotel staff could not have offered us more help in dealing with the situation. The cleaning was outstanding with linen changed daily and the beds were very good - my mother has a bad back and found the mattress very comfortable. We had a wonderful sea view from our rooms with a balcony overlooking the small pool and sun terrace. We ate in the restaurant twice and had lunches daily which were a very high standard and the fish dishes certainly worked out cheaper than some of the other restaurants in town. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: You need a sea view room with balcony

My boyfriend and I stayed here overnight on April 30 as a little beach getaway during our vacation in Lisbon. We booked a room with ocean view and it was absolutely perfect. The room was big, clean, comfortable and had panoramic views of the ocean, beach and marina from both the bedroom and bathroom. The views from the bar were breathtaking but the bar food was a little pricey for the portion size. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we received superb service, we were offered drinks and free snacks several times while we sunbathed on the lounge chairs by the pool. The weather was perfect and we loved every moment of this stay, truly did not want to leave. I would not hesitate to book Hotel Albatroz again.

After reading the reviews on trip advisor I had high expectations of this hotel but such a shame they were not met. I booked this for myself and husband as wanted a relaxing place to go after a busy few days sightseeing in Lisbon. On arrival they did not have our reservation, not a good start. The receptionist explained that they changed reservation systems so it must have got lost!! she was not very apologetic but said they had a room to offer us reluctantly we accepted it. The room itself was small and had mildrew on the walls, the bathroom again was small and old looking. The breakfast was average, we had to ask for tea and coffee even though they weren't busy.
Having worked in the travel industry for over 10 years and stayed in many 5 star hotels this certainly does not have anywhere near the standards of a 5 star hotel. I would only give it 5 stars for the views and location, everything else was just average. Would definitely go back to Cascais but would not be staying at the overpriced and over rated Albatroz hotel!

This is clearly one of the best hotels in Portugal.
The rooms are very good, graeat service overall and the bar makes fantasic Mojitos.
I haven't actually eaten there since there's so many nice areas to hang around along the beach walk or in the old town just minutes away from the hotel.
They take care of your car as well so you won't have to worry about parking.

If you are one of those persons who get irritated when the pressure is to weak in the shower, you'll love this place. Turn it on fully and you will thrown away against the wall.

But lets face it, what you pay for is the location and the hotel premises itself.
After all travelling around the world the Cascais beach walk is still my favourite and it starts right outside the hotel. The pool area overlooking the rock formations and the small secluded beach is fantastic as well as the bar overlooking the sea.

It's hard to find any real drawbacks but if I try it'll be:
1. Wifi - too slow, you would have to stay there a week to down load a movie, (goes up and down during streaming). Might be the service provider rather than the actual wifi itself.
2. Beakfast, it is ok but doesn't really match the rest of the hotel.
3. The beds are just a little bit too hard...but if you're German or Italien you will disagree with me :)

You might have a good price deal if you book in advance.

Very nice room overlooking the pool - we arrived early but were let in very soon after arrival. Room service was twice daily meaning we always had clean linen. Staff at reception helped us check in for a return flight. The staff were all helpful, breakfast was a good buffet. Our only disappointment was the over priced evening meal - we were seduced by the view but the order was wrong when it arrived, and while they tried to put this right, one meal went cold in the interim. Best to eat in Cascais which has many nice restuarants

Room Tip: Sea views are shady in the afternoon - but there's a sea view !

Wonderfully located cliff-top hotel. It is a bit old fashioned and this is part of its charm but if you are looking for modernity then this hotel is not for you. Service was good and the staff friendly. Food is excellent and you can take breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean. We were there in April and the adjacent beaches were quiet but the sea and the swimming pool (unheated) was cold. We asked the hotel to arrange a cab to the airport - instead they ordered a private car so this cost almost double the cost of a regular taxi so be specific if you want transport anywhere.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different - obviously a sea-view is preferred and some have balconies but these ar...

We had a long weekend at this hotel and were really pleased with our stay.
The hotel is very strategically located in Cascais, walking distance to all important places like train station (only 1 hour train ride to Lisbon), bus station (1 hour to Sintra, via Boca del Cabo, Europe's most western point), restaurants and amenities of Cascais and great seaside walking.

The location was our reason of selecting this hotel and we were not wrong.
The hotel has a little bit of an old worldly feel to it, some may say it's a little dated; but we liked it that way.

We had a city facing room as we couldn't afford a seafront view. Looking back on it, I think the price difference wouldn't be worth it as you have access to the same views from hotel bar and pool area when you want to. My only note is that our room was directly above the hotel entrance, therefore noisy due to the continuous traffic of people and cars.

The room was not very large but we had a huge kingsize bed and 2 chairs. The storage spaces were really limited, if we both had 2 large luggages we would struggle to find a suitable place for both.

The bathroom was large and fully functional, with dual-function bath-tub and shower and double sinks. There were complimentary toiletries and bath-robes in addition to huge towels.

The restaurant was really good. Good selection of local and international cuisines accompanied by a good wine list. We opted for the house white and were very impressed with it. 2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine came to 150Euros.

The breakfast selection was generous and wide variety of selection catering for several diet choices.

The staff was helpful and tried their best to answer our questions and help; however I need to point out that if you don't specifically ask for it; they do not tell you that you can actually travel to Sintra very easily for 3Euros per person using the public transport.

I would definitely recommend this hotel because of its unique location in the city and the level of service to match its uniqueness. We hoped to have a special weekend and it certainly was a memorable one.
