We are staying in a hotel that is perfectly placed for the old town and is close by the station for trips in to Lisbon.

The hotel group has three hotels in Cascais and has recently bought a fourth location which is a grand looking house not far from the main hotel and the Palace which our room is located in. A large room with a lounge area with sofa and TV. The balcony is as grand as we have had and looks over the beach into the Atlantic Ocean. The room is air conditioned, which for an old palace is a godsend given the heat outside.

The room could do with a bit of a makeover but it is by no means scruffy - a freshen up would be a better description.

You walk less than 100 yards to the main hotel which has a great restaurant, bar and a good lounging area with a small pool. Staff are polite and friendly.

The pool loungers could be updated - a couple of broken hinges which could be dangerous - and more attention needs to be paid to cleaning the tables between the loungers. These are small points but which are important if you have 5* status.

All in all a great place and well worth the stay. We would highly recommend it.

People should beware that this is a resort basically now a part of the Lisbon district and the beaches are very busy and consequently noisy. We had no trouble with the noise or the bustle but if it is absolute rest then another location may be justified. If you want a top class hotel close to the action there may be no better in Cascais - thoroughly recommended.

We recently stayed at this magnificent seaside hotel. Service was wonderful. Seaside pool was relaxing. Nice bar by the water. Room was elegant. We stayed here as part of a golf trip. Location was perfect.

What a great place and a five star resort. We got lost and stopped at a shop to ask for directions and it ended up being a staff member from the hotel who not only directed us but then caught up to us and helped us with our luggage and took us directly to the hotel. Talk about service! Beautiful place, excellent service and great food. We can hardly wait to visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor with a balcony which was great but any room on the beach side with a ba...

Albatroz was a little tired and in need of a refresh. Some of the windows were cracked and even the hotel entrance had dangerous glass damage. The rooms window treatments several wouldn't open, the plumbing was at least 50 years old,and didn't work very well. The location was really good, but the websites photos were deceptive,it wasn't as good in person. The staff was polite and very professional. The location is very convenient. When we looked at other hotels like the Farol and Villa Italia we realized we really over paid and for the same 420 Euro a night could have have been in superior hotels.

Without doubt the location is great in that you are right on the cliff edge with views over the interesting comings and goings on the ocean. Our room with balcony had a lovely relaxing feel and we sat out in the late evenings enjoying the space. The breakfasts were wonderful and had lots of choice. A glass of sparking wine would have finished them nicely. Speaking of which, thank you for the chocolate covered strawberries and sparking wine delivered to our room which helped us celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in style.
on the down side the location being so central lends itself to others nearby, and beyond the control of the hotel, celebrating life late into the night at times. I also like the option of an iron in the room to iron my own clothes even when the laundry service is available and optional. A bottle or two of water supplied each evening with the turn down service might be expected at the price paid. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and it was indeed special for us.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location, for a start, is right in the heart of the town, overlooking the ocean. The service of this family run hotel was impeccable. Breakfast (included in the price) was amazing. We sat out on the terrace and watched the sun coming up over the ocean. The pool was clean and there was always a lounger available. Great poolside service. We had lunch and dinner there - unbelievably good and unbelievably well priced. If you are going to Cascais, don't look at any other hotel!! My husband and I travel around the world and always look for top hotels. So our standards are extremely high. Our room was beautiful with a little balcony with ocean views. We were greeted with home made biscuits and port wine. On the day of our departure, we needed to leave before breakfast was served, so the hotel offered to deliver whatever we wanted to eat on our balcony at 6.30. You will not regret staying here!!!

Room Tip: Best rooms are on the top floor, ocean view. You can hear the waves lapping into the cove.

We stayed at the hotel to attend a conference in June 2014, and our accommodation was paid for. Having said that, we found it very pleasant.

Our sea-facing room was comfortable and well-appointed. On sunny days it was noisy, as the pool was directly beneath, and every word spoken there was audible in the room, so I didn't have lengthy naps in the afternoons! But can one seriously object to the sound of people having some innocent fun in the sun?

The staff members we encountered were all polite, friendly and helpful. They made us feel very much at home. The food was good and plentiful.

This not a budget hotel, but it is a very pleasant stop in Cascais.
