“One of the best restaurants in Cascais”
Reviewed 1 December 2013 via mobile

This is not a fast food place or a tourist trap. We lunched there on a Sunday as the only foreigners in a full restaurant. They are known for their seafood, and my grilled turbot was excellent. My wife enjoyed the Bacalao Luzmar. The service is friendly and professional, and the bill was like the food: a bit above the competition. Lunch for two with wine and water cost us €60.-. Well worth it.

“Tasty fresh fish and great service!”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

I think this is probably our favourite restaurant in Cascais. It was recommended to us by a Portuguese friend who is from the area and we ended up eating here 3 times during a week long stay in nearby Estoril !

It is fairly small (20 tables maybe?) which gives it a warm friendly feel and the waiting staff are attentive and friendly without being over-whelming. We either ate the fresh sole or the fresh mullet - both were delicious. The staff will show you the fish before they cook it to check that the size is ok (you pay according to the weight). You can then choose how you would like it cooked and whether you would like a sauce/which sauce you would like. When it is cooked the waiters will fillet it at the table for you and then serve a platter of new potatoes and vegetables.

If fresh fish isn't your thing, there is also fresh crab and lobster and a range of meat dishes. For 2 persons having an aperitif, a bottle of Portuguese wine, 2 fish main courses, 1 dessert and coffee it usually came to about 70 euros. We usually arrived around 7.30-8.00ish and never needed a reservation (early-September - maybe different in the Summer?). However it did tend to get busier later so may be worth booking if you will arrive after 8.30.

Anyway, highly recommended if you are in Cascais and would like a good, fresh, reasonably priced meal.

“Give your taste Buds a TREAT”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

All in all, great service very helpful in explaining the Menu. Started with a plate of Prawns in a garlic sauce and chilli peppers(not to Hot). For the mains we had the local pork steaks with asparagus and a local potato dish. Pudding was a delight unable to recall the name but it cleansed the palate. The white wine recommended by the owner was of a very good quality with all the dishes and once again the owner suggested we try a High End Portuguese Brandy served as all Cognac/Brandy should be in, a warmed glass along with a Black Coffee. If you are in Cascais a MUST to dine i

“Bom restaurante em Cascais”
Reviewed 28 August 2013

Luzmar can be a good option for couples or families who wish to have a good meal in the center of little town Cascais. Especially recommended for fish and seafood lovers. NOt too big (around 15-20 tables), has good atmosphere and prices are not too high (around 25euros per person)

“Lovely place, lovely food and lovely service! :)”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

Me and my girlfriend visited Cascais for the evening, arriving a bit late for food (it was gone 22 30!), we entered and a friendly waiter asked if we wanted a table, so we took seats in the in outside covered part at the front on the restaurant. He also went on to tell us that the kitchen was open until 23 30!
We enjoyed a very tasty fried squid starter between us cooked in a garlic, oil and mild chili peppers which was the sauce and went to have the "Arroz de Mariscos" for 2 people (a wonderful traditional portuguese dish and their answer to Spain's paella and Italy's risotto) as a main, which was really flavorsome and was loaded with plenty of prawns, clams and pieces of lobster! All fresh as the waiter told us and as it should be! I recommend this dish! :)
The service was great though out our meal and the atmosphere also, with plenty of Portuguese to be found in there as well! Give the place a visit! :)
