Dear All, I have been here 5 days now with my 6 years old daughter and my husband, together with another family of 2 adults and 2 children. I have never met in my life worse treatment from the staff, completely ignoring from the start.
Although the rooms are very old furnished the bathroom leaking if we were treated other way by the hotel staff we would had except it. We had ants in the room, the telephone was not working, the refrigerator is ancient and leaking and not working under 10 degrees inside.Nothing was fixed after insisting at least 3 days and talking with more than 3 persons....

One detail. We spilled some powder from a shake I brought from home inside of our baggage.
We kindly asked the cleaning lady to help us vacuum the baggage case and gave her money.
After she saw the baggage she assured us that she will clean it properly and thanked for the money. Next day nothing was touched or cleaned. We were to the reception and the staff told us that it was impossible to clean because the powder was fixed on the case. We cleaned it in 10 minutes with a wet towel...and wondered why we dared to ask for help....

I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AND COME WITH MY CHILDREN.

Breakfast is good but very poor in menu. They said is American breakfast but the American famous pancakes were no were seen in any day. I can hardly wait to go home.

If you have an enemy recommend this hotel to them. It will be enough punishment!

Room Tip: Save your money and nerves don't book this hotel

This hotel was a bit old fashioned but it was clean and comfortable. The room was a good size with a balcony looking out to sea over the rooftops of Cascais. Bathroom was a bit dated, but very clean. Breakfast was okay (if you stayed away from the scrambled egg!) and the swimming pool was great, although be aware it is next to a main road so there is some traffic noise from behind the hedge. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk out of Cascais, uphill, which wasn't a problem for us. Really enjoyed our stay and great value for money. Staff were really nice too and wifi is free.

Room Tip: 4th/5th floor if you want the view

I stayed here in June this year with a few friends for a wedding. The hotel is by no means luxury, but it definitely has its purpose! The rooms were well furnished and relatively comfortable. The hotel could generally do with a brand new paint job as it is a bit old-fashioned and worn. Sleeping wasn't great, though this is purely subjective as I felt the pillows were rubbish!

However, the service was pretty good. The breakfast was great and the pool was well looked after.

If you're after 5 star, don't come here, but if you want good value for money and a place to rest your head then you won't be disappointed.

Our recent stay was disappointing.
On arrival we were offered one of the larger apartments ( rather than hotel rooms), which after inspection seemed like a good alternative.

On our first day i asked two members of staff how the air con worked- both said they we re new, didn't know so would ask maintenance.......he never came.

Unfortunately on day 2 we suffered a burst water pipe and when reporting it to reception we awaited for 'maintenance' to turn up. He did so, without staying a word, put a bucket under and left, never to be seen again. Only until we went to reception did we get an explanation of what had happened and that we had to go to another apartment.

So we packed and changed apartments without any offer or assistance from staff and in fact noone even came to see the damage.

Day 3 we experienced no hot water. When we asked reception they said it was a hotel wide problem- again no signs or anything to let customers know- just that it was being looked at.

As some reviewers have mentioned there is room for improvement with customer service. staff were polite but weren't very forthcoming in finding solutions or providing a consistent high level of customer service.

The hotel is very dated and in need of a bit of loving care and certainly you get what you pay for with it being 3* which we were fully aware of before we came, but it would be great if the basics of hot water and air con were sorted.

Cascais is a lovely town and the hotel is situated 10 - 15 mins walk to town, train or bus station.

There are plenty of nice restaurants and bars to choose from and the beaches towards estoril were great. Aromi restaurant is definitely a must!

Sintra is well worth a visit -sturdy shoes needed, lots of hill climbing and cobbled streets. Take the direct bus 417 - 45 mins journey.

Lisbon is 35 mins via train and a great city to visit.

We had a nice holiday but slightly disappointed with the hotel which we wouldn't return to.

Our second visit to this hotel. Last time June 2012. Again found staff very courteous and helpful. Great view from the balcony of our spacious 4th floor room. Free parking. Great choice of food for breakfast. Hot and cold. Some parts of the hotel, namely the bathrooms are a bit tired and could do with a facelift but overall, great value for money. Cascais is a busy place so there was a bit of road noise but that was expected. Approx 10 minute walk to the centre, plenty of cafe's, bars restaurants in the side street. Great value and would definitely stay again.

The hotel Staff are very courteous and considerate. One example: I needed to get my son's iphone working. We were facing some complexity. Maria, the front desk manager, to assist us actually had one of her staff accompany my son to the local phone store to make the equipment purchase. That just blew me away! I have not been treated that well at the Four Seasons. Thank you for a memorable trip.

In December 2011 and January 2012 and then, again, in January 2013, I stayed with my wife and our two kids in Hotel Cidadela in Cascais. In the first stay, our baby was only 10 months old. We wanted a room where we would be able to sterilize and warm up bottles and prepare some basic food for our baby. By telephone, and then email, we were recommended to book a T1, which would mean a bedroom, a living room and a place to cook. We were thrilled when we got there and saw the size of it. The bedroom was quite large, while there was also a big living room with several sofas, table and plenty of space for a bed for our elder kid, plus a small but perfectly convenient kitchen. It was at ground level and the big door-windows of the living room opened into a sort of veranda, with a table and chairs, the big inner patio and swimming pool of the hotel. Apart from one manager, the staff were extremely nice, both in the hotel, the restaurant and the bar. Actually, they went as far as keeping the plastic bath we had brought for our baby from one year to the other - and bringing it straight away to us when we arrived back in 2013. The Cidadela used to be a well known four stars hotel in Cascais. It is currently a three stars one. It could benefit from some renovations (like the door-windows were at times difficult to open). But all in all it is a place we would highly recommend. It is also very conveniently located, less than a 10 minutes walk from the centre of Cascais town and the train station with its regular trains to Lisbon (through Estoril) and is very good value.

Room Tip: For a family room ask for a T1, really spacious
