“8 day stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

Hi myself and my husband stayed in the Vila Gale from the 10 to the 17 of August. We had a great stay. The rooms are lovely a little dark but nothing to worry about. Breakfast gets boring as they go over there.Would not recommend having evening meals as you don't get to enjoy the lovely restaurants in Cascais. The bar is very relaxing they have music on some nights We were very impress with the two friendly bar staff one of who is Bruno. If you need to book day/ half day tour the staff at the reception are very helpful. Would I stay there again? Yes I would.

Room Tip: Request a kettle in the room if you like a cup of tea.

Hi , if you have travelled to Portugal accompanying someone with a disability , the need to have access to a hotel with helpful staff is paramount. Unfortunately the hotel has no walk in showers so their idea of accessible bathrooms is not ours. They did however have 3 lifts , the middle one was tricky as it did not arrive flat with the floor so was not good for wheelchairs. The staff were extremely helpful so thankyou Michael and Sophie . Just remember in Portugal everything They say is few minutes down the road and I promise you ,even thoughts walk pretty fast they vastly underestimate distances!!!
I was disappointed to find No gym. The breakfasts were very good. And the wifi pretty good we paid E5 a day to have it in our rooms and it was worth it
Access out of the hotel without a taxi was difficult and you just used the wheelchair on the Tarmac,as pavements were mostly uneven . Cascais was more accessible in terms of pavement cut outs than most Portuguese towns
We were there in August and far too any children for our liking but if you have kids just great!!!!

Room Tip: All seem to have balcony but maybe ask for one with a good sea. Iwe

Lovely hotel, central location and staff. Very enjoyable stay in a relaxed atmosphere with good facilities. Only drawback was the lack of internet connection in the room. Breakfast and bar were both great. Would definitely highly recommend.

We stayed here for 9 days. We had a nice big room with seaview and spent a lot of time at the pool. We really liked it. The beakfast gets boring fast though, and the orange juice, coffee, panecakes, sausages are not the real deal and generally boring and tasteless. We had a bbq lunch once which was ok, but nothing special and a 'simple burger' that took about 35 minutes to make, which was quite bad. Great sangria and cocktails though.

Stayed for one night in this very clean and comfortable hotel with a balcony. Pool was clean and enjoyable; air conditioned; parking and nice buffet style breakfast included; wi-fi for an extra charge. Within walking distance to town - location was perfect, and front staff helpful.

Room Tip: We requested a room on an upper floor away from the elevator and we were accommodated - quiet and pe...

We stayed in this hotel for a week last year, our suite was very roomy and offered a lovely view from our corner balcony. Would recommend it highly, very good for kids and nice quite bar at night. the breakfast bar was excellent with a huge variety of food to choose from. We would return to this hotel.

Stayed Monday - Friday.

Lovely spacious huge double room with a balcony (I imagine most of the rooms have balconies). Great bathroom facilities and powerful shower. The hotel is spotlessly clean and modern!

The hotel staff are very friendly and relaxed, compared to Lisbon where many of the hotel staff are institutionally miserable.

Food and drinks at the pool bar are reasonably priced, €9 for a freshly made Bolognese pizza / €4 for a sandwich. The pool is bigger than it looks and the perfect hotel for a relaxing sunbathe by the pool.

The hotel is 6 minutes walk from the centre of Cascais in a beautiful upmarket area, makes for wonderful late night walks. The taxi from the airport should be €38-€40.

Cascais is a lovely little town with lots of reasonably priced restaurants. Great for couples, older folk, not so great for younger people wanting to go on nights out. Zero clubs and very few busy bars mid week.

I would definitely stay here again and loved every second. The only negative aspect was that I 100% left my spectacles in the hotel room when we left and when I called back that night they said none were left behind.

I'm sorry about your spectacles left in the hotel room. Please write to cascais@vilagale.com and ask for them (with all your informations: room number, check-out date), sometimes only day after the room made give the lost & found at the reception.
