From the excellent private limousine service to & from Lisbon Airport arranged by Pergola House
our three night stay was pure enjoyment . We had the charming Azul room with balcony ; it was
very comfortable & all the facilities were first class . Breakfast in the beautiful gardens was a joy ;
the choice was varied , the quality excellent & the service full of smiles . I would recommend
PH as the ideal place to enjoy Portugal at it's very best ; we cannot wait to return .

Room Tip: Any room would be splendid ; we loved Azul ( No 15 ?? ) .

A simply delightful stay in a lovely little retreat, ideally located in the heart of Cascais (a stone's throw from the railway station) and yet with its own peaceful atmosphere. We lived in Cascais for 2 years and were back seeing friends - I had always wanted to check out Casa da Pergola, having walked past it many times and been struck by how idyllic it looked - we were not disappointed. Friendly and helpful staff and a fantastic breakfast were the icing on the cake. Highly recommended.

First of all, not everyone expects the same of an accommodation. Meaning, if I like something, it doesn’t mean that you (the reader) will also like this hotel.

We chose this hotel, because its proximity to the train station.
Cascais is full of cobblestone streets – dragging your suitcase along these is not so much fun…so the family run Pergola House was a perfect choice for us.

If you are looking for a full service, international hotel – this one might not be for you:
No TV or telephone in the room, no fitness studio, no full restaurant.
No elevator (might be a problem for disabled guests).
Once again – this is a Bed & Breakfast – with all its ups and downs!

For us, important are:
1. Location
2. Service
3. Cleanliness
4. Room / Quiet room
5. “Design”
6. Restaurant

1. Location:
Most of the sights in this little town are in easy walking distance.
Only “Boca do Inferno” at about 2km is a little further away.
Train station is about 1-2 minutes away.
Plenty of restaurants near you to choose from.
Bike rental about 1-2 minutes walking distance.
2. Service:
I expect friendliness, efficiency and help, when we need it.
Service personnel was always eager to help.
Unusual for a B&B: service personnel is available 24/7!!!!
3. Cleanliness:
Making up of the room and new towels every day.
Bathroom clean.
Once we slept in until early afternoon. Even that late in the day our room was made up!
4. Room / Quiet room:
Our purpose for a hotel room is to stay and SLEEP in it. I am waking at the tiniest bit of noise.
Of course, you never can guarantee not to have rowdy hotel guests that spoil it all for you. But street noise and such is something that you can avoid.
This B&B is set in a small side street.
We were in room 19 which was spacious and at the end of the hallway/staircase.
The only problem we had was, when late at night other hotel guests came back and were talking or laughing loudly in the hallways.
Overall, it was not too bad during our stay.
5. Design:
I am not a fan of hypermodern everything. I want my amenities, but prefer some kind of charme.
This hotel got it!
This is a small B&B with only about 10 rooms.
We were in room no. 19 which was spacious and tastefully equipped with antic furniture.
The building itself is very pretty, too. In fact, it is probably one of the most photographed buildings in all of Cascais.
6. Restaurant/Tea Room:
The hotel offers breakfast and small meals. Breakfast is not gorgeous, but with enough offerings for everyone.
Coffee is – as in many places in Portugal – sort of instant coffee. But at an extra charge you can always ask for a cappuchino or such.

Bottom line:
This is a small, family run hotel that also in style and amenities represents Portugal a nice way.
We had a beautiful room that we enjoyed tremendously.
In my opinion, the price is right, and we would be happy to return.

So impressed by everything at Pergola House! The staff was so helpful and accommodating - thanks Angela! The room was lovely, the breakfast was delightful, and the location was right in the center of the excitement! We knew we picked a great spot when passers-by were snapping photos of the gorgeous property. We highly recommend Pergola House to anyone traveling to Cascais! Thanks again for a wonderful experience!

Pergola House is a real good option for a stay in Cascais. Every room is different and has its own character (which of cause also means some rooms are bigger some smaller). Clean location with very friendly staff in the centre of Cascais, however parking could be a bit a pain.
All in all nothing to complain, we enjoyed our time in Cascais.
