“Relaxing place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We enjoyed a relaxing few days here, it is a great base from which to explore the sights of Sintra and Lisbon. The rooms are well equipped and very clean and the facilities in the resort are good.

It is a little way out of Cascais, a 5 minute drive. Taxis and regular and reasonably priced approx 5 Euros.

Overall a pleasant and relaxing stay

2nd visit to villa bicuda, still as nice if not better than 4 years ago, stayed for a 4 night break had a studio villa very close to reception and shops, didn't get disturbed by noise at all from the shops etc, the bakery has a great choice of cakes and rolls and the fresh bread is great each morning, the small convenience shop has most things needed but everything is in Portuguese, so a bit tricky if after something ie. smoked or un-smoked, good tip download Google translator onto iPhone before hand problem solved. didn't use restaurant so cant advise on that. reception very helpful, villa has a safe but you need to get the lock and key from reception free of charge, unless you lose the key. room cleaned and clean towels given each day. its a 5km walk into cascais Marina about an easy 50-60 min walk turn left outside Bicuda entrance keep following road until you get to junction where you can see Lidel down the road to your left, go down that road straight to sea front then turn left nice stroll along prom into town. Nice 5* hotel the Farol on front overlooking sea, nice for a stop and refreshment on way.

We have stayed at the Vila Bicuda for two consecutive summers, for 2 weeks. We just love the whole place, it has everything handy -- from the lovely coffees and cakes to Sacolina to the lovely ladies at the hairsalon, we love it! The house we rent is a spacious, two-story two-room -- everything is well appointed and quite modern, so you do not feel like you are staying in rented accommodation. The gardens are quite big, and the kids love the pool. We usually go to Guincho beach in the morning and then spent afternoons at the pool. Lovely, this year there was also free Yoga in the garden!

We picked this hotel to stay for a few days visiting Cascais and Sintra - there are only a handful of expensive hotels in Sintra, so we chose to stay in Cascais and drive to Sintra each day - we spent our evenings and our last day in Cascais itself.

Motorway access from here is good, but as other reviews have pointed out this hotel is nowhere near the centre of Cascais. We walked into Cascais on our first evening and it took around an hour. Taxis are good and cost about €7 into town and about €6 back (you pay €0.80 supplement for the taxi coming to the resort). There is a bus, but the very personable and helpful receptionist said they don't recommend it - for two people it costs about the same as a taxi, takes twice as long and doesn't necessarily run to time table - or at all!

If you have a car (recommended) there is easy parking in the resort and you can drive into Cascais if you don't plan on drinking. There is free parking along the beach road, with pay spaces and car parks in the town and under the marina. Parking on Friday/Saturday night looks to be challenging, but otherwise it seems easy enough.

We stayed in one of the studio apartments. I have never seen so much storage space in a hotel room - there were four full-sized wardrobes, cupboards, drawers and shelves. Our room was above the shops in the main commercial area - it had a small secluded terrace, large lounge area, bedroom area, spacious bathroom and a quite well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine.

Only one tea bag though, and no-sugar. However there is a small supermarket and a pastelaria on site, so getting supplies isn't a problem.

The room was showing its age in places, but was clean and the bed comfortable, although it is made up with a plastic undersheet (yeugh). Take some sort of mosquito repellent - we got bitten every night. And there aren't very many coathangers for all that wardrobe space.

We didn't try any of the on-site facilities such as the pools because we were there to explore rather than chill out, but they looked very good.

Room Tip: We were concerned about staying above the shops and laundry, but it was fine - no noise or smells.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for choosing the Vila Bicuda Resort for your recent stay in Cascais, and for you comments.

Regarding the plastic undersheet, all our beds have a mattress protector and above, a cotton sheet. We would like to assure you that we will check the situation with our housekeeping.
About the coathangers, please note that our housekeepers will be pleased to give guests aditional coathangers on demand.

On behalf of all the Vila Bicuda Team, we thank you very much for your review and we look forward to welcome you back in a near future.

Kind regards,

The location is only 6 minutes drive from the beach, but if you want to relax don't need to leave the site. The pool is great for the kids with a big area for the smaller ones. The best villas are overlooking the pool, all have a private outside area with table, chairs and large sun umbrella We stayed in a T2 villa which is quite big, the rooms are very big with loads of storage space, kitchen is not very well equipped (could have more dishes and glasses) but as dish washer is available (they provide detergent) it's ok, the fridge is big and the you order out from a list available

Have just returned from a 3 nite stay at this lovely place. We had a two bedroom villa and were amazed at how big it was. It was cleaned every day, the staff were great really helpful, sorry we didn't get everyone's name but you were all fab. Cascades is lovely, Sintra is beautiful and Lisbon is a fantastic city. Would recommend this to everyone and will definitely return. Thank you for making my celebrations with my friends very special.
