Gorgeous location with streamlined boutique design. Nice to be a bit out of the action and right by the sea. Views from the room were fantastic. Service was good, but staff was spread thin, particularly poolside (but if my problems are about getting poolside cocktails, I don't really have problems in the bigger sense of things). Not too crowded, which was nice, and breakfast was excellent.

The perfect destination for a relaxing break with sun and beautiful scenery. The staff were very helpful at all times and provided a fantastic recommendation for an amazing local seafood restaurant. When there was an error with our airport transfer we were compensated with a bottle of champagne in our room - no complaints here!
It's a short walk into town but far enough out to not get bothered with the noise so a good location.
I've not given 5* because there were a few things in the room that could have been a bit better - plug sockets that didn't work, bath looked a bit old, towel replacement was a bit hit & miss....nothing major but I think when you're paying the price they charge it's the little things that matter.
Finally - the sushi there was really good. Didn't think I'd say that after a stay in Portugal but there we go!

If I have ever stayed at a hotel with more stunning views than the Farol Design Hotel, I can not recall it. I flew over to Portugal to meet my boyfriend and some friends he was working with in Lisbon. After the work was done, everyone was ready for some R&R, and our friend had booked us all at this hotel. (We stayed in June 2011, although Trip Advisor would not let me go back further than August 2011 as a travel date before submitting this review).

Every morning we woke for breakfast, sat on the beautiful and spacious balcony overlooking the Atlantic, and had some delicious fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, eggs, etc. The breakfast was definitely a highlight of our stay.

After that, we would lounge at the pool. Now, I am not usually a hang out at the pool all day kind of person, but this place turned that around. Comfortable shaded chaise lounge chairs, BEDS that overlooked the cliffs and the Atlantic ocean, warm breeze, gorgeous scenery, delicious pitchers of sangria, being waited on hand and foot....you get the idea.

Some afternoons we would walk over to the town for a bite to eat. We never had a bad meal in Cascais. One day we rented bikes and rode up along the cliffs and found a spot to hike down to the water, where we watched the waves crash with force against the cliffs. It was a very windy day, and part of ride was uphill, but we were so rewarded with the views. Such a beautiful place.

The only downside to my experience at this hotel is that I did not find the beds (2 twins pushed together to make a double) to be very comfortable. The sheets were clean, new, fresh, and welcoming, but the bed always made me a little sore the next morning. However, some of our friends said their beds were great, so it could be not all are created equal here.

We did have equally stunning views of the cliffs/Atlantic from our room (it was down a hallway from the main office, vs. the ones overlooking the pool/ocean). We often sat along the window in the room, sipping port, before going out to meet our friends in the evening.

It seems like a dream now, or perhaps something out of a James Bond movie (although not as stuffy or dangerous :)

Enjoy!

Excellent location, beautiful views right over the sea and easy walk to town centre. Staff are simply the best. Restaurant excellent as well. Why 4 stars, not 5? Very expensive for cute room but the room was not a touch on paradors or pousadas available for half the price. One is paying for the 'boutique' label as one might for any 'in' thing - think expensive (cheap) pine furniture being preferred to hardwood (quality) furniture in the '70s. Apart from lack of cofffee/tea making in the room I could find no other fault and, as I say, the staff are wonderful.

Room Tip: Suites with balconies overlooking the sea, pool and gardens are the prime but aslso the most expensi...

Had booked a land view room and was allocated room 102, had terrace and view of the sea, so very fortunate. Ate in the restaurant twice, top quality but not the cheapest, but then it is a 5 star place. Rui on the front desk was amazingly helpful, booking restaurants in the town and generally being informative.

The location is exceptional and the views from the terraces of the sea are brilliant. Saw dolphins as we had breakfast one morning.

Room Tip: Rooms 102 and 103 although land views and so lower rate do have a small terrace and sea views.

We booked this hotel over a year ago ready for the 2012 harley Davidson Rally - we chose it for location to the marina and port (but not too close) and for a bit of luxury. I stayed there 3 nights - we had 4 rooms 1 for each of us (male HD Riders) - although we had breakfast we did not eat there, so in that context my comments are based upon the Hotel. The room I had was on the lower ground floor with access to a patio which was next to the sea - the room was a good size and was well equipped. The bathroom had a jacuzzi but it did not seem to work. As with these clean hotels with their white walls and sharp edges its not long before they get a bit scruffy and this room was no exception - it needed a redecoration although not so much as you felt uncomfortable with it. The common areas were very pleasant, with a great view from the outside space over the pool to the sea. We did have breakfast out on the patio, nice enough and included in the room rate. Staff and all the service were first class and had a greta time would rate it at 8/10.

Room Tip: go for a sea view
