“Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

This is one of the smaller hotels in Cascais but this is certainly no bad thing. It's in a beautiful location right on the waters edge but within a 5 minute walk of the town. Everything about the hotel was great but what made the whole trip was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a great time!

Room Tip: Pick a room with a sea view. Awesome!

The staff at Farol Design Hotel provided an amazing experience for my wife and I. We added a note to our booking to let them know we had decided to stay at their hotel to celebrate a major life moment and they took the time to read it, ask us about it and accommodate our request for a room with a private terrace with ocean view.

The Mix and Sushi Design restaurants had excellent food with a great view over the ocean.

Overall the experience was amazing and memorable. My only negative was the bathroom, which is clean and nice, but a bit dated.

Room Tip: Room 104 has a private walk-out terrace with two lounge chairs to relax and two more chairs a little...

The location superb, staff very friendly and welcoming. We ate in the resturant, again food was superb together with the staff with amazing views over the ocean. The reception area, bar, pool and restaurant decorated to a high standard but our room 210, which had wonderful views, I felt was not 5 star. Our bigest upset was the awful smell in the room, we talked to reception a few times about it and though the hotel was full we weren't able to change rooms but I seriously think the owner should do something about it. I have since read other reviews I see this is a problem in other rooms. It was quite disgusting at times, it was as though a waste pipe was leaking under our floor boards. This is a big problem which needs fixing, please do something about it........

Room Tip: Get an ocean view but a room that doesn't smell

We had a wonderful week in Farol Design Hotel. The location is just on the cliff with the rough atlantic ocean in front.
Nice room, perfect sea view, high quality breakfast, cosy bar, smart lounge music, tasty afternoon tea, high class restaurangs, but what made the stay extra perfect was a very serviceminded staff - thank you all..!!

A reflection: - maybe more a hotel for couples than family with kids

Room Tip: Sea view is recommended - it's spectacular when the atlantic ocean hits the cliffs

My wife and I had arrived in Cascais and decided to go for a walk and see what the coast line and Cascais was all about, on route back to our Hotel Pousada Cascais also very good we saw the Farol Design Hotel and decided to rest our feet and sit back and enjoy the scenery. the staff were really helpfull and the bar staff exceptional, friendly/personable and very attentive. We decided to sit and look out at the fantastic views whil sipping on a couple of beers and glasses of wine. when the bill arrived I have to say I was pleasantkly surprised, we will definately be back to eat in the restaurant which looked amazing as sisthe rest of the Hotel. Higly recommend a visit if only for a few drinks and great views....

Great Location on the Terrace looking over the rocks and the ocean. It is very photogenic and the great views make the 1st time guests reach for their cameras. The Food and Beverage Manager is excellent, well skilled in all hospitality services.....to be warmly welcomed by name is a skill that many restaurants never quite manage. The food is excellent, the staff, especially "Jamie" delightful. No qualms about recommending for food, staff and location. Not cheap, but certainly better value than the rip offs along the beach. Will definitely go back. Great place to spend a warm balmy evening.

Room Tip: Go early and have a nice aperitif before dinner on the terrace

Location - 5 minutes walk from the lovely town centre with a sea front garden. South facing so it gets sun all day. Wonderful views of the Atlantic. Train station 10 minutes walk with easy access to Lisbon at good prices. There is a beach right by the town centre. Also a few good bars for a drink prior to a large choice of eateries.

Service - Perfect; The staff could not have been more friendly with breakfast (Free) being served with great attention.

Room - We got upgraded to the Farol Suite. I suspect the best room in the hotel. It came with a seaside balcony with tables and chairs plus a built in Jacuczzi bath.

Atmosphere: Could not be better..... lovely decorations and lighting.

As Arnold S said...... I'll be back!

Room Tip: Book well in advance and maybe you can get the upgrade we got. Local super market (near train statio...
