“Romantic Valentine at Farol Design Hotel”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

Breathtaking view, romantic room, champagne and chocolate strawberries upon arrival, rose petals in the bathroom... every detail made our Valentine stay unique and memorable: thank you to all the Farol Fesign Hotel staff for their delicate touches!
We shall come again for sure!

Room Tip: We stayed in the room 307: stunning views!!! And romantic wooden beams and high ceilings!

The location is spectacular, the crashing waves right outside the door make it quite an experience. The quality of the rooms is very good, and the gentlemen at the bar were friendly and very customer oriented, as were the reception staff.

The food in the restaurant is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely terrific, the duck unrivalled. For convenience I would suggest they give bigger forks and knives, this small designer cutlery looks nice but is not very practical.

The design, decor and location are very beautiful. The service is very good, The rooms are not very large. Expected more at breakfast, is essentially a very romantic hotel. I thought a little expensive for the hotel that is but I understand that to have quality have to pay dearly.

Room Tip: Is it about the money, if you have money have a good room. But all of rooms are beautiful.

Visited here in December and were lucky enough to have the most beautiful weather which makes this place and views even more breathtaking.
We arrived very late due to problems at Heathrow but the staff were friendly and welcoming so we just collapsed into the beautiful bar, had a couple drinks and forgot about the hassle we had experienced all Kin size with a small desk, chair and easy chair. wardrobe was a good size but the safe inside was very small and not big enough for a lap top.
Flatscreen tv with U.S./U.K. programmes/series/films.
Comfy king size bed with pillow top mattress. Blackout curtains behind the lighter main curtains.
Good a/c ,heating but it was a bit noisy so we had to put it off at night to sleep.
Nice Jacuzzi bath and shower with the usual toiletries, good sized bath towels and a hand held hairdryer, though not powerful enough for me as it was only 1500w.
The position of the hotel is stunning and also only a five to ten minute walk into Cascais. This is a design hotel with plenty of quirky touches/furniture in the common areas.
As previous posters have noted, the breakfast room is in a beautiful position right on the ocean with beautiful views.
Breakfast had a good choice of good quality, well presented, tasty items but was rather chaotic on the Sunday we were there. I think they must have been short of staff. There is a large Nespresso machine for various coffees but as each coffee takes over a minute to make the queues were a bit silly. I think they should have somebody coming around with coffee or offer the choice of a pot for caffeine addicts like me. So at least you have the choice.
Mondays breakfast was much calmer but it was December. The waiter in the restaurant at breakfast knew that I was not happy with the service on Sunday as I had to ask for butter three times before it arrived so did everything to make Mondays breakfast pleasant. He apologised profusely several times for the previous days problems and his manner is to be commended. He completely changed my opinion of breakfast.
We will definitely be back.

Beautifully designed and with a spectacular view over the Atlantic… The rooms are super comfortable and clean. The restaurant area it’s breath-taking with huge windows over the sea. The food was wonderful, refined, beautifully presented, very tasty … I had a seafood rice and it was just perfect. The dessert, OMG, delicious!!! Finally but not the least the service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I’m sure I’ll be visiting Farol Design Hotel again.

The interior and exterior design - with the big glass windows - really makes the most of the lovely location 'on the water' above the Atlantic Ocean with superb views. The white rooms were relaxing, clean and comfortable with huge beds - although I missed a kettle to make tea - the coffee machine was a poor substitute. The décor was fabulous. I loved the billowing, cloud chandeliers. However I was disappointed that smoking was permitted in one of the lounges. This meant that the unpleasant smell of cigarettes permeated the hotel on occasions.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view

Super hotel. Reception with very friendly persons, nice bar with separtion of smoking or non smoking part, breakfast with lots of choice, clean spacy room, ..... 10/10. Arrived in the afternoon and sit together with the 3 couples outside to watch the see while drinking a glass of red wine.
