“Free and interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014 via mobile

It is not often one finds a free museum. But here it was. Located in the Jardim Marechal Carmona, this museum shows several rooms, artefacts and pieces of art from various ages. I don't really remember what they were about, but they looked interesting at the time. Worth a visit if you're down that way.

“lovely museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

This is a very grand place. To think that a family used to live here is amazing the furniture and fire-places are really something. It is in a lovely setting in a small park and close to the marina.
The added bonus is that all the museums in Cascias are free.

“Lovely house museum in a beautiful park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

This house museum is set in a beautiful park--funny roosters roaming around and outdoing each other with their cock-a-doodle dos. The house is lovely--very exotic--and filled with art and furniture. There is enough information in English and the guards are friendly and helpful (and speak English) if you have any additional questions.

We really enjoyed our day in Cascais--be sure to visit the Paula Rego Museum as well.

“A Walt Disney style beach mansion - lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

We visited this lovely little beach front mansion a few times; it is fantastic. Next to the park it provides a two or three hour visit. Have a look at the mansion from the bridge, the Chapel in the garden, the Moorish internal courtyard, the couple of restored reception rooms, visit upstairs and well worth the climb to the tower/cupola. Go down on to the beach (that was their private beach) snd look back st the building, amazing

“Amazing house in great setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

This superb mansion, with its permanent displays and temporary exhibitions, was built for a family of Irish extraction -- hence the incongruous shamrocks decorating the ceiling of the main entrance room. It is a must to visit.
