“High Quality Hotel”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a room with an ocean view. The balcony overlooking the ocean and pool made for a delightful place to sit, read and talk. The service was excellent and the room was a nice size. The pool has very attentive staff and is sparkling with comfortable lounge chairs. The beach is not on the hotel property. You have to walk a block or so, go down some stairs and then you are one the beach. It was crowded and rocky. Personally the pool was so beautiful we stayed there rather then go to the beach. It is a short walk to town and you pass some restaurants and a supermarket on the way. It is highly recommended you make restaurant reservations in town as things fill up very quickly. Don't miss Santini gelato while in town!

Tip 1: the very nearby Jumbo supermarket is huge and caters for all shopping needs including wine and softdrinks at low prices. It also offers a quick and very low cost lunch option with a counter at the bakery where you can have a fresh bread roll prepared and of course coffee and soft drinks. The Jumbo can be reached in five minutes from the hotel walking by taking a right out of the hotel main entrance, walking past the underpass and cross one road.

Tip 2: the beach and the boulevard walkway into Cascais town can be reached easily by a road and railway underpass. This is located three minutes walking - from the hotel main entrance, take a right. Note you only see it when you get there since it is hidden behind a few plants and bushes. It is very clean and convenient.

Tip 3: the hotel has a lovely seating area and view balcony on the 6th floor (called Horizontes). Here everyday free lemonade, ice tea, cookies and crackers are served roundabout 4 pm.

Tip 4: the hotel has a great fitness centre (and indoor pool) which offers free daily classes such as Zumba, yoga, spinning and body pump.

Further we agree with many other reviewers - this is a sublime hotel with an upscale and very relaxed atmosphere. Quality of breakfast and lunch also very good.

We have just come back from a week at the Cascais Mirage and cannot praise it highly enough - total luxury, and by far the loveliest hotel either of us have ever stayed at. Beautiful pieces of furniture and art at every turn, infinity pool - plenty of loungers - staff to help with sunshades, drinks and towels. Buffet breakfast was fresh with large selection of everything - we particularly liked the fruit especially the mango...divine. Rooms were beautifully appointed and towels changed constantly, complimentary water a nice touch as was the removal of bed cushions and a chocolate on the pillow every night. The health club has wide selection of classes to do if you feel energetic and the indoor 17m pool was very quiet and great to do a few lengths in at the end of the afternoon. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from central Cascais but lots of bars and restaurants along the way and the same from the train station which is about 30 mins journey into Lisbon (4.80 euros return). We also went to Sintra which is definitely worth the effort - 20 euros for a taxi up to the Pena Palace and then we got the bus back to Cascais. Finally, the staff at the hotel were all absolutely lovely - friendly, helpful and with outstanding English. All in all - wonderful!

Room Tip: We had a Superior Room which had balcony and sea view though not full or high up. Luxury rooms I th...

This is my second stay in this hotel, but this time with my family. The staff is always giving the best service and his happy to help you with any request. The rooms and common areas are kept spotless at all times. Not to mention the beautiful view over the ocean from the pool and restaurant area. If you want to have some relaxing time alone I recommend the sixth floor where you can relax or read while having a beautiful view over the beach and the ocean. In the afternoon you also find some refreshments there.

The breakfast buffet contains all you need and the chef makes the best omelets on your request. The food in the gourmet restaurant was excellent for both fish and meat. According to my daughter the beef with truffle sauce was the best she ever and my red snapper were also prepare in the best way. You also get olive oil and balsamico tasting together with some small waiting diches between your orders.
Pool area is good and the staff is helpful at all times, moving a sun umbrella or getting you some refreshments without you feel them hovering over you.
I will highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for a week in July 2014. The service in this hotel was excellent. We were given a beautiful room overlooking the pool from where the views are amazing. The staff were very welcoming and professional starting with the staff at reception The pool staff accommodated every request for loungers, umbrellas, etc. The buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The hotel is a short, pleasant walk from Cascais and Estoril where there is a great choice of restaurants.

The Miragem is a great escape away from it all. My family stayed last year (2013) for a week. We had 3 teenagers and a 12 year old to keep happy and they absolutely loved it. The beach is right in front of the hotel and they had the freedom to ramble around the town which felt safe. ( they did not have any negative experiences out and about). We took the train to Lisbon another day for a flavour of city life. The train station is also very near be hotel and travels along the coastline.
Our rooms had a magnificent view of the sea and the food was delicious. The teenagers even got up for breakfast after being out late the night before...... That's says something! The Miragem has a terrific state of the art gym which the teenagers used some days. It is free for hotel guests. There are fitness classes of all types for those needing to let off that extra bit of energy built up from practicing "extreme relaxation all day" I went to a yoga class one day for a stretch which felt great. The infinity pool is on the 3rd floor and overlooks the sea. What I love about this was that you are not forfeiting the view of the ocean to have the comfort of the pool, with sun loungers, day beds and umbrellas. Staff at the pool are extremely helpful and will find you a lounger, provide fresh towels and are there all day if you need them.
This year (2014) my husband and I were celebrating our 25th Anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere convenient( from Cork) as we only had 3 nights without children! We searched online but kept coming back to "the Miragem". We were so glad we made the choice again as the Hotel standards and friendliness of the staff are hard to beat. We were greeted with a "congratulations on your wedding Anniversary", had champagne, port and chocolates in our room and extra touches like petals on the bed chocolates on the pillow just made it that little bit special. The room again had a balcony with a direct view of the ocean which was beautiful to sit on for a drink in the evening. Management and staff are all are professional and competent and go out of their way to make the stay an experience to remember. The the attention to detail in the open areas of the hotel is tasteful, lending a sense of luxury and calmness. There are all sorts of nice extras during the day (better to experience yourself as these nice touches make a difference). The hotel is Five Star.... but does not have the stuffiness that might be associated with this level. Instead it is friendly and open ....and special. The break away was short but very sweet and I left us wanting more again when leaving....I will have to come up with another excuse to return!
The hotel strives for excellence and in my opinion achieves it and goes beyond.

Room Tip: Sea views ..... Worth the extra as sea is so close.

We stayed for three nights in June/July 2014 with our two teenage sons. The Miragem is a spacious, modern hotel with beautiful views and very comfortable rooms with well equipped luxurious bathrooms. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful, the pool is lovely but a bit cold. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice and was fresh and delicious. It's an easy 5-10 minute walk along the promenade into town where we ate each night. Our two sons loved the hotel and we visited the Moana surf school at Guincho beach with them where they had surfing and kite surfing lessons. It's easy and reasonably cheap to get taxis from outside the hotel. It was colder than I would have expected for June/July - I wished I had taken some warmer clothes for the evenings.

Room Tip: A room on the higher floors would probably be better.
