“Close to the beaches, a choice to consider”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

We stayed one night at the VIP Inn Miramonte. This is quite close to several beaches, but not enough to walk. The hotel itself is a 70's hotel, decorated as such. Rooms are big and not very well isolated - you can hear pretty much everything that people say when they are in the hall.
Nevertheless, the price is just right and therefore, if I ever stay in Colares again, this is an hotel that I don't mind staying in again. I really enjoyed the smell of thoroughly washed linen in the bed - it just brings back good memories.
The breakfast is just ok, fresh ingredients but not fancy at all. Staff is helpful.

Apparently they do not like backpackers, especially if they stay for only one night.
The lady at the reception was not so friendly, gave no explanation whatsoever about the hotel. I guess the last time she smiled was when the hotel was build. The rooms are ok but in the bathroom grew fungi. Sitting in the garden and pool, felt like travelled back in time to the 70ties.
The hotel is located on walking distance from the beach. The beach is small but nice.

Pluses:
- good price
- cosy rooms
- 1 km 200 metres form beach (15 min walk)

Tips: That hotel best for travellers by car, because all infrastructure located in 1 km. 200 m from hotel. But 15 min walk wouldnt be a trouble for most of us. 2 beaches available by feet: Praia Macas and Praia Grande/Pequena. During my visit (July) all the time there were huge waves and rescue service allowed us to "swim" on waist deep. But near Praia Macas mini aquapark with pools and etc. were located.
You can get to the Praia Macas by old style train as well.

The hotel has it`s own cosy quite private territory, not full of people surrounded by wonderfull Sintra hills.

My husband and I together with 3 other couples stayed here for 10 days in June. The hotel is situated in a residential road and is made up of four 3 storey buildings, more like a holiday camp than an hotel. Rooms were basic, bit outdated, but clean with clean towels every day and plenty of hot water. Hotel seemed to cater for holiday coach trips from Spain. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The gardens and swimming pool area are a nice feature of this hotel and as the majority of the guests staying whilst we were there were seniors from Spain out everyday on outings we had the gardens and pool to ourselves. A car is really necessary as you are in the middle of nowhere and walking to the beach is down a busy road. When we were there the tram that runs from Praia Macos to Sintra was out of service and hotel not sure when it would be up and running again. Parking could be a problem during the busy season as hotel has a dozen parking places at the most. Good location for visiting all the beautiful surrounding area. Two good restaurants in Praia Macos are Restaurant 1888 and Nautilos both very good value for money and attentative staff.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the upper floors where it seems to be quieter, they seem to put the coach trippers on...

We entered Sintra afternoon( not recommend to travel Sintra on Sunday) Sunday it was terrible to drive through city ,and we abandoned idea to find there hotel,we continued to drive toward Colares, and on gas station were advised to take Miramonte hotel. It was good choice ,the room was basic furnished ,but very quiet ,good sleeping condition there is nice garden ,swimming pool.We rode from there to Cabo da Roca and find nice restaurant, about 5 minutes drive from Cabo da Roca ,where I eat grilled sardines ,never eat some tasty as it.

The room was clean and relatively convenient though a bit old-fashioned. Relatively good location for those who want to travel in the area (Monserrate, Capuchos and the beaches), but a bit far from Sintra itself. Stuff was helpfull and the breakfast was satisfactory though not included in the basic rate.

As the hotel is not located at the city center and accessibility to the hotel is mainly done by car, one should expect a large parking lot. Instead only few parking places are available and when arriving late in the evening you should park the car quite far from the hotel.
There's no lift. You should carry your belongings with you upstairs. Moreover, the hotel is actually a complex of four buildings only one of them is close to the parking lot. Staying in a far one means dragging the luggage for about 100 meters.

Old hotel and a bit outdated but the place is ok if you go there in the summer and want to stay nearby the beach (15/20 minutes walking). Wouldn't go there in the winter.
