Delicious dourada fish! It was grilled on open fire and tasted awesome.

At first it felt like maybe they don't want us in, and when we got the table, waiter was a bit rude. There was no menu in English so we needed to find our small food dictionary.
When we made our order waiter was acting better. My girlfriend tried her best to speak Portugese and I guess that melted the waiter's heart because the longer it went, the nicer the waiter was. Also there was not such a rush anymore after a noisy group of people disappeared. Also it was a last evening before a holiday so...
after all the waiter was one of the bests during our trip in Portugal!

We stumbled on this place by accident getting lost looking for a different place. It was the best meal we had in Portugal. Definitely the best grilled cod fish ever. It is a family-run restaurant and we were the only ones who were not locals. The owner is very personable and made our dinner experience delightful. It was a cool day and we ate outside under the grape vines.

This is a good place for grilled food, it is cheap and the portions are quite fair.
Last time we (me and my girlfriend) ate here, we paid around 21 euros with cheese, house wine, grilled chicken and desert.
The only cons i can think of about this place is that it is not always open, better call before you think of going there if you are coming from far away and this place does not accept debit/credit cards.

I've visited this restaurant 4 times in two years and it never fails to be enjoyable. A jolly host and grandma and daughters who all seem to help out, the fish is varied and seared and grilled over charcoal as you wait. Cheap wine, good music, simple outdoor eating at best. Make sure you check it is open. Longish walk back from where-ever you are staying. But even if the gates look locked try to see if you can get in - its not always a sign its closed!

We had read about this place on trip advisor and turned up at 7.20 to find it in darkness and the gates shut. After peering through the fence for a couple of minutes a grumpy looking chap came out and barked "8!" We slunk off, wondering whether it was worth going back after such a grumpy welcome, and decided as there were no other places nearby we would wait it out. I am delighted we did. When we came back at 8, we were greeted with big smiles and led through a courtyard to an inside table in what appeared to be the back room of his house. It was a traditional portuguese setting and seemed to be run by a family consisting of an ancient guy in charge of the BBQ, the grumpy turned smily front of house son, and his wife in the kitchen. The menu was straightforward, various meat or fish cooked by grandad on the Bbq, served up with lovely handcut fries and copious amounts of salad from mum in the kitchen! The prices were great value (from €5 for half a chicken to €9 for a big chunky cod loin) and we all really enjoyed our meals along with a big jug of sangria to wash it down! It was a great end to our holiday and i would recommend it, although if you don't speak much Portuguese a phrasebook might come in handy as he doesn't speak much english and we had to rely on a little visit to the kitchen to find out what things were on the menu. All added to the experience!
