I loved to stay with my family in a calm and cosy atmosphere, with a nice swimming pool and a good breakfast.
A traditional decoration but pleasant.
The staff is dedicated and educated.
I wil be back again for sure.

Spent a week here in October and was disappointed. Rooms were dated and then carpets could do with a good cleaning. Bathroom was very small. Staff did not engage at all with the guests. Bar prices were very expensive. Unfortunately don't think we will be back.

I spend one night with my family in this hotel, the room was comfortable, very good taste, with all the offers we need. Cleanliness was excellent. The breakfast has the enough, good and well presented. The staff where extremely delicate and well educated.
My daughter enjoyed the swimming pool. We hope to came back again.

Room Tip: My room was on the west side was quiet

Once-upon-a-time, this hotel must have been good. Now-a-days (sep.2012) it's sad to say that it has lost its glory. As a retired travel agent with more than 401 years experience in the field I think that I know whatt I'm talking about. The hotel needs an urgent "make-over". Furniture, carpets, wallpaper.....are dirty...stains all over etc... Although I stayed in a suite (room 104)it was impossible to take a hot bath/shower...it was either freezing cold or burning hot. On top of all this were the meals...1 example...on the menu: sardines on toast..sounds good in the land of sardines. Guess what I got...pilchards + tomato sauce straight from the tin can. We finally decided to cancel our half board arrangement.

Stayed here for a week in August in a Junior Suite which was great for the kids as they had a separate area of the room and their own TV. The hotel is well appointed and very clean. Good size pool with a well stocked pool bar and a play area for the kids. As seems traditional in Portugal, the beds are on the firm side but are comfortable and air conditioning was very effective allowing for a good night's sleep.

The breakfast is the usual buffet style with a good selection of breads, meats and cheeses. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on one evening and the food was a good standard and reasonably priced.

The hotel is only a short walk (2 minutes) from Estoril train station which has 3 trains an hour running into Lisbon so the hotel can be used as a base for exploring the city. The beach is also a couple of minutes away and is large and clean.

The hotel is without doubt a beautiful building with tasteful public rooms and pool area. We originally booked a double,a twin bedded single and a triple room but actually got 2 twin bedded rooms and a triple room. That said the rooms were attractively laid out, clean and big enough for our needs although we did find the beds a little hard. Unfortunately my room was opposite the lift motor room which intermittently buzzed all night and as I am a light sleeper this affected me badly. I spoke to the reception staff the following morning and they moved us without delay to a double room on the lower ground floor. This was even more spacious but the bathroom did need a bit of TLC and the shower was difficult to regulate but these were really minor irritations. Tea and coffee making facilites would have made the room perfect. I do agree that the 3.50 euro charge per day to use the bedroom safe was expensive but of course a necessity. We all enjoyed the breakfast and there was good selection which met our differing needs. It was self service but in honesty this didn't bother us at all and we certainly didn't view this is in a negative light and the young ladies in the dining room were always polite and gracious. Pool towels and shower robes were provided. Given the price we paid for our stay we felt this hotel gave us good value for money and we all had a very enjoyable stay in this quiet location. It did take about 45 mins to get to Lisbon by train on Sunday and so if you prefer a hotel in the hub of things this might be a bit way out for you.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the lift shaft.

The hotel is a very beautiful building and the location is excellent. The public rooms and bedrooms are tastefully decorated and look as though they have been updated recently. The breakfast buffet was very good. The pool area was very nice and the hotel provided towels and toiletries for use by the pool. There was also free use of the gym. Our bedroom was of an adequate size for the three of us and the beds were very comfortable. These are the positive aspects of the hotel.
On the negative side the hotel charged an outrageous DAILY rate of 3.50 euros to use the safe located in the bedroom. We have travelled extensively and have stayed in various classes of hotel but have NEVER been charged for something that is a necessity. Where else can you store your valuables in a safe place? Other negatives include very average cleaning of the bathroom and the bedroom. On one occasion the bath itself was not cleaned. Getting the correct temperature in the shower was extremely difficult. We would have expected tea/coffee making facilites in the bedroom at a 4 star hotel - this service is standard in almost any hotel worldwide. Poolside bar charges for food and drinks were very expensive. We noticed that most people brought their own drinks down to the pool. The staff were helpful and polite if approached by the guests however we found their service distant and impersonal. On our first morning we sat down for breakfast expecting a staff member to ask for our room number and take our order for hot drinks. None of the serving staff approached us to explain the entirely self-service system including helping yourself to hot drinks. We sat for a few minutes before realising. Staff in the dining room appeared unable to greet guests or even smile. A "Good Morning" would have been nice! Our suggestion is that the staff are given further training in customer services. Having said all this generally our stay was enjoybale.
