The hotel is very nice, it has everything you may need and we think it deserves 3 stars instead of only 2. Breakfast is very good and the lady who serves it is lovely and speaks perfect French. We didn't like the bed which was very hard and the fact you can hear everything that happens in the nearby rooms. The receptionists were not very friendly and didn't give us advice on restaurants and places to visit. Only the two younger ones speak some English, while the older man does not. All in all we had a nice stay and would go back.

Room Tip: Our room (202) had a sea view which was very nice

Listed as hotel. Booked ahead by 3-4 weeks since it was the 1st night in the country. No hassles with booking.com. Free underground garage parking, people at desk until 2am, friendly staff, easy to get to/from Lisbon airport for first or last night stay, Easy to find with standard map. 2 blocks from main street in very quiet residential area. 2nd floor room had a distant view of ocean, was impeccably clean, and had large breakfast included, coffee from machine. Elevator to upstairs rooms. Free WiFi not tried. Total cost 45E in May. Could probably have booked same day.

Room Tip: Such a quiet neighborhood, there are no bad rooms.

Our first hotel for our stay in Portugal. Very charming, clean, beautiful ambience. Manicured grounds with beautiful flowers and citrus trees. Nice pool. Room (203) is large, but spartan furniture.Small balcony. No reading lights.Beds very hard, but we like that, some may not. Bathroom good size, large fluffy towels. Free underground parking is so nice...after having parking problems in the rest of Portugal. Also has elevator. Short walk to beach and boardwalk. Restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast included delicious breads, ham, cheese, hardboiled eggs, yougert, cereals. Coffee was from a machine and a bit not to our taste. Staff friendly, but not well versed in how to answer tourist questions in the best way. Excellent value ($60) and would recommend to anyone.

This 2star property is an excellent choice for anyone travelling to the Estoril Caiscais region. Prices are great it is very clean and includes breakfast, I would stay here again. Very clean, beds are a bit hard but that is the only complaint.

Room Tip: Get room 101 or 102 they have a patio overlooking the pool area and are the only rooms with them.

The Hotel Smart is a lovely building and has a nice pool in the grounds. It also has free underground parking. Its situated around 15 minutes walk from Estoril railway station which means you can get into Lisbon door to door in 45 minutes with no bother. The hotel itself is spotless....absolutely spotless and you can tell that its run by a proud family. Our room was small, but adequate and had a small balcony. Our deal included breakfast, and we enjoyed a nice big spread in the dining room. £45 for 2 people, with breakfast, within ample journey time of Lisbon and of course the silver coast beaches..........awesome value!

We are a couple in mid 40s. We stayed at Hotel Smart for 10 nights in mid Oct 2012.We picked the Smart because it offered good value, got good reviews and looked well in photos.

GENERAL: This is a small hotel, maybe more like a guesthouse. The whole place is spotless. It seems to be a family business. All staff we met were helpfull and friendly. The bar area is very small and to be honest does not seem to get used alot. The pool is lovely although cool in Oct. There are no sunbeds at pool. The entrance is locked from 2am to 7am.

LOCATION: The hotel is located about a 10min uphill walk away from Estoril Train Station and beach. A 5min walk will get you to a local minimarket. It is in a quiet residential area.
Estoril is a funny old place, it was very quiet in Oct. Everything seems to be spread out around the area. There is no real heart to the resort, bars and restaurants are scattered from the lovely promenade to well up behind the casino and over to Monte Estoril. A 30min walk along the promenade will bring you to Cascais, which has a much more "resort" feel to it with a couple of busy resturant areas.
That said we ate most nights in Estoril and had some lovely meals. Our favorites being Restaurant Bar BG, Di Casa,Manderim Chinese and the restaurant at the Pica Pau.

ROOMS: The rooms are the highlight of the Smart Hotel. High ceilings with beautiful coving and light fittings, wooden floors, spacious bathroom and a double door that opens onto a small balcony. The room is cleaned daily, towels (3 types) changed daily, whether you leave them on the floor or not and there are extra blankets in wardrobe with extra pillows on request. Only drawback is that we found the bed quite hard. (but I would still say we slept well). There is no air con.

FOOD: Breakfast is fresh fruit, yoghurt (not great), hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese, fresh baked rolls, jam, honey, with juices and coffees.

BAR: The small bar has bottled beer (1.30) and a small selection of shorts and cans of soft drinks. Sandwichs are available.

All told we would recommend the Smart Hotel. It is an excellent base from which to explore the local area and beyond to Lisbon.

Room Tip: There are only 2 rooms with large balconys. They are on the first floor overlooking the pool.

I have just returned from this hotel. The hotel was very clean and staff very helpful. I would recommend for the price I paid.
Location is not far from the seafront and in a quiet residential area.
I enjoyed the breakfast as the hotel served eggs, hams and cheese, bread rolls, cereal and fruit.
I would go back to Estoril and this hotel.
