“A little gem of a hotel.”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is one of Estoril's best-kept secrets in terms of bed & breakfast accommodation. Situated in an affluent area just across the road from the famous Estoril casino, this little hotel offers excellent rooms at very affordable prices. The rooms are a little dated, and for some reason the bar only offers non-alcoholic beverages, but the staff are extremely courteous and helpful and the hotel is situated just a 5 minute walk from the beach-front train station offering links to central Lisbon or Cascais. I would wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Alvorada as the perfect base for couples or families seeking a Lisbon peninsula experience.

Room Tip: If you have a room that faces the casino you may notice noise from people leaving in the early hours...

This is not a 3 star hotel - looks more like a 2 star. Breakfast is weak, it's a mess, and it is not functional. Rooms are very simple with most horrendous paintings I have across - just blobs in different colours. The lift is so small and inefficient that guest use the stairs. Car park is ridiculous inefficient and small - full of columns that makes an adventure to park a car. You have to pay for internet and is not cheap. No one to help with luggage. Why is weird? You cannot drink in that place - the bar I full of milk bottles or something similar.

Good location, and nice reception staff.

In summary, keep away from it.

Booked on advise of this site. Great hotel very friendly staff and spotlessly clean. Very easy access from Estoril station, simply take the underpass head for the Casino which you cannot miss and head for left hand side and it is opposite the main entrance. About ten minute walk. Ideal access fot the beach as well as promenade walk to the picturesque Cascais. It is very quiet even opposite the /casin. Lots of local small restaurants nearby and the Praia Do Tamariz on the beach is a must with fresh fish and traditional local food, excellent. The Bar Absurdo on the beach front also good and staff at both excellent. If you like chicken you must try the Diem de Frango in Cascais.

Hotel staff friendly and the breakfast fresh and top rate continental with well cooked scrambled egg, cheese, tomato, ham rolls, juice, coffee etc. There is not dining but they do burgers until midnight if you need. Whilst no alcohol we saw this as a definite positive as no issues and there are loads of bars nearby.

Room very comfortable and spotless spacious, very comfortable beds.

All told great experience

Room Tip: Front rooms have balcony and side rooms are sea view

Hotel Alvoreda is in the sleepy seaside town of Estoril. It's a little back from the coast, looking over the very dated Estoril Casino. Even though we don't gamble, it was interesting to go in and look as the casino is said to have inspired the James Bond book Casino Royale.

Most days we walked or took the train to the pretty town of Cascais. Here there are lots of nice restaurants and shops. It is about a 25 minute walk along the coast or a five minute train journey. Trains seem to run until about 1am and cost about 2.5 euros for a return ticket. When you buy a ticket, which you get from the Lisbon side of the platform, make sure you scan it on the machine on the other side of the track or by the furthest machine before boarding as we nearly got a fine from inspectors one morning for this easy mistake.

The hotel itself must have been built around the same time as the casino but rooms seemed to have been recently updated. The bathroom was a little tired but shower worked well and was kept very clean so it was fine.

We had a great room (307), with a lovely balcony looking over the casino and to the sea.

Puddings from room service were delicious - highly recommended. However, having to pay 5 euro a day for internet in this day and age is ridiculous. Wifi should be free and it was really annoying to have to get a voucher, that could only be used on one device, not per room.

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was a typical continental with ham, cheese, nice breads, egg, etc.

Room Tip: Room 307 had a lovely balcony with a view to the sea/casino

Alvorada hotel resulted to be the best choice for both sightseeing and relaxing. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with a balcony offering a beautiful view to the ocean.Everything is kept clean and the staff is really fantastic, absolutely everybody will do their best to satisfy your needs and requests.Although it is located in front of the casino it is still very relaxing place and no noice will ever disturb you.
The hotel is situated at 5 min walk from the railway station and that makes it a perfect place to visit Lisbon since there are trains to city center every 20 min.
Really recomend this hotel!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the top floor to have a better view to the ocean.

This was our fifth stay at Hotel Alvorada, and whilst it may not be the most expensive hotel in Estoril it is certainly the friendliest. The staff always remember us when we come back and are most helpful.

It is located opposite the casino and is only a few minutes from the beach and the railway station where trains leave every twenty minutes to Lisbon or nearby Cascais (although it's nicer to walk to Cascais along the promenade during good weather).

Breakfast is included in the price and consists of a buffet which includes teas, coffees, juices, cereals, bread, preserves, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs and superbly cooked frankfurters. Other reasonably-priced meals are available throughout the day.

Definitely my favourite hotel in Estoril.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are best as they have balconies overlooking the casino. Up to the third floor roo...

Nice view from balcony. Very large comfortable room. Quiet. Bad coffee from machine, otherwise breakfast OK. Took credit cards.

Be aware that the hotel is dry. Not many restaurant options in Estoril. Not much in Estoril if you are not interested in the casino. Lovely walk (20 mins) into Cascais along the sea front where there are many restaurants.

Very helpful staff who returned a wallet left behind on a seat and also gave advise about restaurants..

Room Tip: Ask for top floor with a balcony. Room 506 is good.
