Saboia Estoril Hotel

We have just returned from a two week stay in this fabulous hotel. Everything exceeded our expectations. Very friendly staff in an exceptionally comfortable hotel. Very good breakfast also. Location is excellent to visit Estoril, Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon. Some lovely local restaurants nearby, especially O Sinaleiro, hamburger restaurant Bolo de Caco and the Italian, Di Cassa. A short walk to beautiful beach. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Sea view room on a high floor is a must!

We stayed here as a couple (in our early 30's!) for 9 nights in July 2014 on a bed and breakfast rate. The hotel is around 30 - 40 minutes drive from Lisbon Airport.

We found the hotel to be clean and the staff to be friendly. Our arrival and check in was smooth, with a complimentary glass of Port on offer. Nice touch!

Decor in reception and the communal areas is modern and contemporary - unfortunately a style which was not reflected in our own room, and I suspect other rooms in the hotel as well. We were told we were in one of the recently refurbished rooms, but aside from the modern multi-jet shower and bowl sink, it all looked pretty run down to me.

We were on the 6th floor, 606 to be precise. The room had a small balcony with fantastic views of Estoril and the ocean. But the room itself was very small so we felt a bit cramped from the offset to be honest...and we travel light! We always try to travel with a single hold bag plus hand luggage and we struggled to find space in our room to stow everything so we weren't falling over it all the time. That said, we did not travel to Portugal to spend all our time in the hotel room so these really are minor points. On the plus side, housekeeping were excellent; beds were made every day, rooms were cleaned and towels changed if required with the usual hang them / ditch them save the planet policy.

On to breakfast, we did not particularly enjoy this on our first morning. The hot buffet options were limited and frankly just greasy and unpleasant. The cold buffet was uninspiring. The fruit salad in particular was dry and looked like it might have been a day or 2 old. The hot water flasks for tea were more like lukewarm water flasks. The coffee flasks were not much better. All of this is common when you turn up for breakfast late in a hotel, but I think we were there just before 09:00 with breakfast service ending at 10:00.

We were actually visiting friends in Cascais so we decided we would actually prefer to have breakfast with them for the remainder of our holiday. The hotel very kindly offered us a reduced "room only" rate from our second day onwards. This allowed us the option to explore other local restaurants for breakfast with our friends, which actually turned out to be a blessing. Portugal is a a fantastic country for culinary delights, so I would encourage anyone to try as many different dishes and restaurants as possible!

Anyway, back to the Saboia - in summary: nice hotel, great location, friendly staff, reasonable rates, breakfast not so good.

Room Tip: We were told by an ex employee that room 606 offers the best views. We agree!

My sister and I stayed here for a week recently and we were greeted by lovely reception staff. The lounge/sun bathing and eating areas were stunning. The food was lovely to. Only down side was the room view. We got a side room with a view of another building.so that was very disappointing and it was noisy a lot but that was because of workers next door not the hotels fault. Would definitely stay here again. It was nice for couples also as not many kids there.

Fantastic welcome in this hotel, the staff is one of the best i've ever had ! they gave us a little welcome's drink, and all the information you need to know about the hotel and what's near the hotel.

We've also had an room upgrade, partly garden, partrly sea view. great !
Room was a little bit small, but since it's summer, you don't want to spent time in your room. Get outside, relax in the chilling pool area. I must say that the pictures on their website are not what you get. The pool is in real life much bigger than on the pictures. Breakfast was a bit simple but who cares , i could eat Pastiche De Nata all day long !

3 min walk to beach
10 min walk to Casscais

great surroundings Monte Estoril is beautiful !

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the higher floors, view is amazing !

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel summer 2014. Very nice and helpfull staff. Calm area with a minimarked, cafe and very nice restaurants just 2 minutes away.
The pool and the sunterrace met our expectations very well. Especially the big sunbeds were very comfy.
Simple but good breakfast- what you can expect of a 3 stars hotel.

You have all you can expect from this hotel. Walking distance to both Caiscais and Estoril and Lisbon is only 40 minutes away by train. The rooms are not too big but they are clean and the view from the balcony is quite nice. The morning buffet is simple but good. Nothing eccentric. The staff is very friendly and are always there when you have questions. The price for this hotel is very reasonable when compared to others in the surrounding areas.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony above the second floor so as to be able to see the view better.

We returned to the Saboia Hotel this year having enjoyed our stay last year. This is a small (48 rooms) hotel within about 5 minutes walk from the promenade at Estoril. Its greatest asset are its staff and everyone from reception to restaurant to housekeeping are friendly and accommodating. The hotel is quiet in a quiet area. You can relax by the pool, on the terrace or in the lounge area. The rooms are adequate in size and well presented and the sea views are great especially from rooms at the higher floors. Plenty of very good restaurants at Cascais which is a pleasant fifteen minute walk along the promenade. All in all a great hotel for a quiet holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors facing the sea have a good sea view.
