Food is quite good. Quality and flavour are ok. However, quantity is poor and price is a big high for Portugal. I recommend de "spiritual" cod and the roasted pork with lemon. The restaurant is a bit small and the baths are "special"

Good service, very well prepared food and reasonable prices are the reason I've been three times in the last year. This place doesn't pitch at the TA scribblers, just concentrates on the food, service and experience.

The pork in lemon with mash is excellent. Consistent, good quality food. The wines are well chosen and well priced.

Go again?

Definitely

After aching feet from walking, and not wanting to go to one of those restaurants that has someone out in front haggling me for a meal, we came across this cozy place. Yes, I like the rustic homey feel, small restaurant, and there were actually a few couples in there.

The menu seemed to have traditional portuguese dishes (which was what we were looking for) with decent prices (for europe) around 12€ to 16€ per dish. What caught my eye was the Peppered Beef with Mashed potatoes, Baked Octopus in olive oil and garlic sauce and the baked codfish. Everything was quite simple.

We got the Bife Pimpente what was a thin steak, covered in a peppercorn cream sauce and a very creamy mashed potatoes. I got the baked octopus came with 4 small potatoes that were drenched in olive oil. Everything came out hot hot hot. \\

For dessert we got the Apples Assada ~apples stewed in cinnamon and port wine. It was super hot and steaming when it came out. It was interesting and very good, like a hot apple sauce.

Everyone was really friendly. But my only caveat is that after walking down a little further, I saw two more restaurants that I would have eaten at, with the exact same stuff, but cheaper!

Nice place, nice people. The octopus was really fantastic, the beef with carrots and the chicken spiced were really good and abundant. We wanted only a small amount of wine and decided to go with the red house wine, surprisingly it was good, not heavy and with a pleasant taste. The restaurant was clean.
Finally the quality/price ratio good.

We picked this little place in Barrio Alto as it looked far less neon-lit, sleazy and cheesy than many of the other places in this somewhat overrated area, instead it has a more authentic wine bottle & wooden table feel to it. The only waiter was friendly and welcoming, and the service was good.
The food was quite basic in presentation but very tasty. Quite a few octopus dishes, including a really well-flavoured and tender Octopus Rice dish. Again a simple but very tasty chocolate mousse for dessert. A lovely little place, although I can't really comment on its authenticity.
Worth a stop if you are lost for inspiration.
