So sad to leave. If you want to feel a little bit connected to Portuguese history, this is the best place to stay. The people who work here are lovely, the rooms special, the location incredible. It is also very safe (not that Portugal is scary) and has everything you need. If you want more, you should question whether you really need it…

Room Tip: Book early!

After an absolutely awful week I came here Friday evening and within minutes found myself in a nice little room with amazing views of the river. Truly appreciated the fact that the hostel served dinner; spent a few hours chit-chatting with lots of great guys.

Stayed in a single room on the top floor. Wonderful views and surprisingly calm and quiet. Shared bathrooms were clean, with warm water, but a bit small. Room was sufficient, but would have benefitted from some extra shelf space.

Really good breakfast. Nice common areas, especially the patio and terrace. I didn't cook, but the facilities seemed good.
Friendly, helpful staff.
Great location, next to the tram line, and Saturday flea market. Quite a few restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

Only major negative thing, which didn't matter to me, but might do to others, were all the steps and narrow spaces. When they say narrow stairs they really mean narrow, as in climbing and squeezing. Worked fine for me, but if you have some physical inabilities it might be tricky to get to the top floor.

The hostel is cosy, warm, inviting and there's a beatiful terrace and patio. I loved it so much I came back for a week. It's located in the old part of town in the hills and you can go to their twin hostel and use the pool there, 25 mins walk away. Some of the showers were cold or took ages to turn warm (I've had that before in Portugal) and the activities are a little expensive for me but as a lone traveller I met people here really easily because it's small. The rooms and decor are original and stunning.

Room Tip: The rooms with shared bathrooms always have a hot shower.

PATIO & GARDEN: I booked this hostel by looking the pics on internet. Patio and outside garden looked amazing in the pictures and need to say that in real life they were even better! Lots of nice flowers and trees, hammock, always good music (not too loud), big "TV screen" (dont know if it was just for the footboll though) and the roof top terrace was just awesome with the view to the ocean!!

ROOM: My room was 6 beds female dorm and beds were really comfy. It got little bit hot during the nights and because my roomates never wanted to have the fan on it got very hot, that was only downside I can think of. We had own nice little toilet and shower in a room. It was always clean with hot water.

STAFF: Very very friendly. They know a lot and are willing to help.

GENERAL: Nice small hostel where is easy to socialise. They have lots of tours and stuff going on all the time. I did Fado tour and absolutely loved it! Alfamo Patio is one of the 3 hostel chain and most of the (if not all) activities happens with other 2 hostels. Easy way to meet new people. I wasnt very impressed of 9 euros BBQ but breakfas was really good with bread and pancakes. Wifi didnt work almost at all during my 5 nights stay.

Alfamo as an area is just absolutely charming. If you're thinking to stay in a hostel when in Lissabon, stay here!!

Alfama Patio is a beautiful and cozy Hostel and the staff does make you feel really comfortable in enjoying the hostel and the city.
I had the pleasure to stay for 3 nights.
Rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The hostel is nicely decorated and the patio and the top terrace are incredibly relaxing. Breakfast is really good with a selection of bread, jams, cereals, juices and fresh cut watermelon and delicious freshly made pancakes.
I also had one dinner at the hostel and it was convenient and really good as well!

The free walk tour is a good start if you have never been to Lisbon. It's 2.5h long and gives you a good brief of the highlights of Lisbon and it is useful to understand how Lisbon is. Then, you will be ready to get lost and find your way back to the hostel!

I would totally go back.

The hostel has good accommodations but for most of the bedrooms you need to climb the stairs, which can be a problem if you have a suitcase.
The staff was really nice and helpful, the breakfast was really good and the hostel has a amazing view of the ocean.

The only downside is that it's kind of far from the center of the city, but there's a tram line in the hostel'a street that takes you everywhere.

My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. The location is perfect if you're looking for a charming neighborhood and a more relaxed environment. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Alfama neighborhood was perfect for exploring and packed with great little restaurants. The morning breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day and a beer on the patio was our favorite way to wind down after touring around all day. Highly recommending this hostel!!

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to be very nice. Our room facing the street did get a bit loud with the passing...
