We stayed at HF Fenix Garden for two nights at the beginning of out visit in Portugal and at the end of it..The hotel is very well located, close to the underground station and a short walk to the city centre. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly and they speak English fluently. In fact everywhere you go people speak English. The rooms were very clean but a bit noisy in the morning if you stay on the 1st floor and face the street.Breakfast, included in the price of the room, was a delicious and a plentiful one.
I warmly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor.

We liked the location, cleanness of the guest rooms and the hotel, and the breakfast. The personnel is mostly very friendly and attentative, with genuine motivation to give their best service. Mostly fluent in English, but some choices of word lead to misunderstanding, like referring to the gate of their inner yard with passage to their garage as "tunnel" while the hotel is right by side of a huge tunnel. Ok...

Room was quite spacious, wifi free and working well, air conditioned, view to the Park and the Square, mattresses to my liking. A bathtub is always a bit of luxury. Metro and buses nearby, lots of restaurants, tascas, pastelerias.

Breakfast had everything we needed and the personnel there is very friendly. There is a good variety of local pastries etc. always available.

What was missing then? We'd loved to have a cozy Bar or Café in the lobby (there was one, but perhaps they did not want anyone to sit there, uncomfortable looking as it was. The interior and decorations was plain and reduced style. The plastic table and chair making the furniture in our room seemed out of place. But, good value for the price we paid for four nights.

Stayed at this hotel early Feb and cannot say anything bad about it. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a room on the 8th floor which had a balcony overlooking the park, great views and would be perfect in summer. Breakfast was included in the price and it was plentiful with most things on offer including hot food, it was buffet service so you can fill up for walking around hilly Lisbon. The main centre is about a 20 min walk or the metro is outside the hotel if after a long day you dont feel like walking anymore. The main stop for the tour bus is directly opposite the hotel as well. Each floor has a vending machine which is a welcome sight when your in need of a bottle of water in the middle of the night. I would recommend staying at this hotel if your thinking about a visit to Lisbon.

Room Tip: Balcony room on the 8th floor overlooking the park.

Fenix Garden is one of the best hotels in Lisbon. No super luxus but it has got everything You need. Very nice staff, perfect breakfast, well isolated rooms without any disturbance from neighbors or outside. They don´t have a pool but who needs a pool in February. In walking distance from Alfama, Bairro alto, Gulbenkian etc. and with busstops and the metro around the corner. The metro also connects you with the airport. A couple of small design errors: The table had been more comfortable for computer work if it had been 5 cm lower, the safe had been easier to handle if it had been positioned 20 cm:s higher. Except for one day the wi-fi connection in the room was excellent.

Room Tip: 604 was a perfect choice

Took one of the top floor rooms with a balcony - what a bargain! Amazing view, huge room, sliding glass doors and a shower to die for!
Plentiful breakfast served in good sized room with tables available even when a large group of organised travellers descended at once.
Easy to walk down to the main town and then hop the metro back up the hill if tired.
Airport bus stops at the main roundabout but now just as easy to use the metro with the new line extended to the airport. Change once but its very simple - just onto different platform.
Great hotel and would definitely use if visiting Lisbon for a third time...

My partner and I took a winter vacation to Spain and added on Lisbon. What we liked about this hotel: 1. The air port bus dropped us off very near the hotel. 2. We found the breakfast to be very adequate. 3. The gentleman at the desk (he had braces) was extremely helpful and kind. 4. The location was actually very walkable to the river front which surprised us. 5. While not fancy, it met our needs. 6. Our stay was quite pleasant. It really isn't a 4 star hotel but its good.

Room Tip: The breakfast was reasonable and convenient. We enjoyed having a second cup of coffee if we desired...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
An urban haven where the commotion does not enter. To enjoy the city does not mean you need to do without some peace and privacy. The HF Fénix Garden provides the desirable paradox of staying in the heart of Lisbon and feeling protected from all stress. The referential acoustic insulation allows you to observe the city bustle from the window as if it is not real. A strange feeling of seclusion kept in the wide aisles and common areas where, even if the hotel is full, you can feel peace. The decoration and comfort of the HF Fénix Garden make you forget the city and even that you are in a three star hotel. Something that you will only remember on check-out. Very closed to the hotel is Marquês de Pombal, several of Lisbon's main points of interest and all the transportation networks in the city. The HF Fénix Garden offers several free services, such as Internet access in the entire hotel. But the most surprising offer is the feeling of staying in an oasis in the middle of the city. ... more   less
