This review is long overdue. My friend and I traveled to Lisbon for a girl’s birthday trip last July 2013. As my German friend has traveled all over the world and has stayed in plenty of hostels, this was my first time ever staying in this type of travel environment. We found Lisbon Lounge Hostel via Trip Advisor and while there are plenty of options, we booked this one based on location and budget. We were extremely pleased - from arrival we were greeted and assisted in every way.

We reserved a private double room on the third floor – cute and just enough for our stay. The room included two twin beds, nicely decorated (each room has its own theme) and we would open the window to get fresh air as it was still cool in July. There are two communal bathrooms down the hall – literally steps away. One was for private usage on first come first served basis. And the other was open to everyone sharing at once. Both were clean, spotless at all times and never had a wait. It was perfect. The environment was cool, chill and great vibe overall. I was surprised to see guests of all ages – seniors, families included. Breakfast was included yet tip- don’t go too late or else food becomes limiting.

The location is central to everywhere in Lisbon. After arriving by plane it was an easy metro ride to the Baixa Chiado Metro station. This metro station served as our base to get to the aquarium, Belem and even a simple walk thru to the other side would leave you in the middle of all the action of Barrio Alto where all the nightlife is – bars and restaurants – so many choices.

I was blown away with all the weekly activities the hostel hosts for its guests – free as well as minimal cost. During our stay we did the free city walking tour with Chef Antonio – he’s awesome, knowledgeable and give us so much insight. We joined Henri for the free Fado experience and after he took the group out club hopping. Yet the very best experience – the most fun and laughing I did on this trip was Henri’s “StripoKaraoke” – strip club + karaoke = ROFL times. I’m still talking about that experience with everyone I know. It was great cause it was a group of about 30 hostel guests, mixed with the locals – it was a great opportunity to meet people. (yes, very good looking Portuguese men…hello!)

Overall, absolutely loved our stay. Everything was perfect and because of this experience I am now considering staying in hostels in my future travels yet Lisbon Lounge has set the bar very high. Can’t wait to return and definitely staying here again. This is a top recommend in my travel book.

I had a really good time staying in this hostel. The dinner offered by the hostel is excellent. The staff is very friendly. To meet more party people I went over to the sister hostel Lisbon Lounge which is just a 5 minutes walk away from this hostel. Both hostels are great places to meet many people from all over the world. The shared bathrooms are clean and nice, the rooms look fun because each one has his own design. The hostel is very easy to find and close to the metrostation. You're close to the shops and the bars are also within walking distance. I definitely recommend this hostel while exploring beautiful Lisbon.

This is a really good option for an overnight or a couple of nights' stay in Lisbon. It couldn't be more convenient, less than a minute's walk from the metro station of Baixa Chiado, but not too noisy. The hostel is really beautifully decorated and we stayed in two different double rooms (we stayed one night, then travelled up the coast, then came back for a final night in Lisbon) both of which were really fun to stay in. The beds were comfortable. Each double room has a mirror and clothes hanging space, bedside lamps, bin, and a safe. You share the bathrooms and there are probably 2 bathrooms to 6 double rooms which worked out fine.
Breakfast is included - cereal and milk, bread rolls, ham and cheese, coffee and tea.
About 50% of the other guests (January 2014) were asian backpackers and the rest were european backpackers. Breakfast was busy but we went back to our room for a few minutes and then the queue had gone. The hostel was very clean and the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and recommended a really good local restaurant for dinner. It's really close to the number 28 tram route so you can catch that up to the bars of the Barrio Alto for some nighttime fun.

Room Tip: Be prepared for lots of stairs up and down! Reception is on the 2nd floor and then all the bedrooms are further up. Great for exercising the legs :) Wooden corridors so sleep can be broken up by people coming in late.

Living Lounge Hostel has great location. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are clean. I stayed at single room. Rooms are designed for different concepts. (i.e. Timeless Room has old clock components on the wall and tells concept of time) They also offer free fado tours at night. Highly recommend.
