Residencial Marisela

if you are searching a no frills hotel in Lisbon, Residencial Marisela is the answer. Near to Picoas metro station (linha amarela), some huge malls, Parque Eduardo VII, Praca Marques de Pombal, Avenida da Libertade and so on.

The hotel is ok, the staff is courteous, helpful at any time of the day or night... but you need to ask them to change the towels, otherwise you will keep your wet ones for days!!

I can give you only one hint: please be careful as you go up and down the stairs, they're shaky!!

Really with the price only that made me choose this place but I was not really disappointed at all. They assigned me first a room on top floor but after they saw that we were a group of 2 old ladies, so decided to change room for us on a lower floor for easier access as they have no lift. The chabby girl at the front desk that we saw for our first 2 days has also helped us carrying our luggage up the stairs and that I called it "service" despite it's not her duty to do (after that we did not know what happened but did not see her ever again, a bit worried if it was OK for her.)

It's a real no fancy place, at large, a place in an old building but can see that they are renovating the place and I really wish they will make it thoroughly as I wish to come back again if I would ever have a chance to visit Portugal again. The beds are a kind of hostel-like beds and can be a bit noisy squeeky sound when you flip over on your bed. If your room partner is a hard-sleep person, then it can be a problem.

The bathroom, however, very new and clean. They just renovated this part, obviously.

No kettle in room, so make sure you bring your own if you are a coffee addicted. Wifi is available but not every rooms can have access but if your room happens to be above the kitchen, then you can access wifi right from your bed.

The location is the best, close to everything you need in life. Pingo Doce, the supermarket is just around the corner, Thai massage salon is around the corner on the other side. Big malls are not far. Post office is nearby. Underground station is a few minutes walk away. Basically, you will love this place.

Room Tip: Choose rooms above the kitchen, they are spacious.

So its by no means The Ritz but for the price it's certainly great for a cheap weekend away in Lisbon. The bedroom was spacious and a functioning bathroom, it is a little dark and certainly an old building. One negative is the stairs we were on top floor and there was no lift. The hotel is close to a few metro stations which were useful for getting around Lisbon, there is also a large supermarket close by which came in handy a few times, (despite the fact there is no fridge in the room). Overall great value as long as you don't arrive expecting a luxurious stay when you have paid 20 euros per night.

More of a B&B than a hotel minus the breakfast. Our ensuite room was clean and average. I didn't find the staff very helpful. It was quite a depressing place to stay in based on the gloom and atmosphere of the 'hotel'. Wouldn't visit again.

Marisela was ok considering the price. We payed 20 € a night and stayed for one week. The location was great with two metro stations nearby and the neighbourhood is nice and safe. But you had to get used to a strange smell and badly leaning floors, staircase and walls. The room was spacious but dark. It was not possible to read in the room, which was sad. We asked the staff twice politely to change a bulb, but nothing happened. There was only one lamp in the room with two bulbs, and the other bulb had gone off. It would have been an easy and cheap way to make us feel a lot happier to simply change the bulb. Once we noticed that the room had not been cleaned during the day. Otherwise the room was very clean. Marisela may be a good choice if you just want a safe room to sleep in with a good location.

If I'd paid €50 a night to stay here my review would be scathing, but I din't. I paid €30 for 2 nights. For that I got a good sized room, cleaned before I arrived and the next morning. The hotel is in a nice area right beside 2metro stations and has some pleasant bars right on its doorstep. If you want luxury look on the websites for the Sheraton and Westins, but if you're looking for a cheap option for a day or ywo you could do much worse than this place.

Hotel’s location was great – nice residential neighborhood within walking distance to Picoas Metro station as well as Picoas stop for Airport bus (3.50euro one way includes Santa Justa lift, which is not really worth it, and all transportation that day except for metro; or 5.5euro round trip). Hotel itself is not new and there is no elevator. Rooms are shabby and a bit gloomy but clean. Try to get a room that is not facing the main street as the garbage truck is very loud at 11:30 pm at night. Hotel staff speaks minimal English but I did not have any problems. Pingo Doce supermarket is literally around the corner, which is fantastic to get water, fruits/veggies, and snacks. The supermarket also has a nice cafeteria and bakery, open on Sundays when many restaurants are closed. I would definitely stay at this hotel again due to its proximity to Metro and supermarket. As far as budget hotel goes, it was perfect.
