“Modernly refurbished apartment in the tradition Mouraria district.”
Reviewed 27 November 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The apartment is located in the Mouraria district, which is picturesquely situated on the slope of the hill from which the Castle of Sao Jorge is overlooking the city. Together with the neighboring Alfama, the Mouraria makes up the oldest part of Lisbon. The apartment is easily reachable by tram, because the famous line 28, often used by tourists for a tour of the best sights of Lisbon, passes the street coming from the Martim Moniz Station. The neighborhood is traditional, not touristic or otherwise gentrified, so it is a good place to experience the atmosphere of the Moureria and to get an impression of the life of its population. It goes without saying that, in order for this to be a mutually pleasant experience, it is important to be polite and show respect.

The apartment is newly refurbished, beautifully decorated and has all the amenities which ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay. Catarina is a great host who was very helpful and always interested in our well being. The area is quite hilly, and the house has steep stairs, so it it is not suited for guests with mobility problems, but otherwise it is highly recommendable for anybody looking for a glimpse of traditional Lisbon combined with the full comfort of a modern home.
