Excellent place in terms of information, friendliness, and cleanliness. Very child-friendly as well. Decent location close to the centre. Owner is really nice, helpful guy.Breakfast is basic toast and coffee/tea - very welcome. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Atmospheric rooms

Guesthouse in area close to metro line so easy access to tourist places and airport via metro. Eating places and small shops close by. Area feels mixed..like in many city places would take some care if outside alone with belongings. Inside guesthouse rooms clean and lavishly decorated with amazing historical furnishings..Like visiting a stately home. I was given a choice of rooms...all large for a solo traveller. Front rooms are noisy with better views. Back rooms quieter with less of a view. Owner very helpful and did point out noise to be fair. Rooms have access to shared bathroom and kitchen. My floor had cooking facilities. Free breakfast is bread marmalade jam with milk and teas coffees but fridge available to top up own choices of food. Good value for money. Friendly owner.hallways in poor condition undecorated but rooms incredible. Would not recommend to families with very small children as no lift and hallway area. Good for a short stay.

Room Tip: Rooms amazing. Double glazing not common feature and would spoil the history feel of room but would really help improve sound quality to front rooms.

We (8 people) arrived in the middle of the night (plane was two hours late), and there was Antonio waiting for us. Lovely rooms, with a charm I have never seen before. Partly because of the age of the house, and partly because of the old furniture Antonio have collected.
We got the whole second floor to ourselves, so we had 5 bedrooms, a small sitting room, kitchen and bath. Mind, if you come alone or in twos you will share the kitchen and bath.

The apartment is ideally placed, in walking distance from much of central Lisbon, and a metro stop (Entendente) nearby. The wonderful tram # 28 has a stop nearby (but as this tram is always full its better to enter it at the start, you'll never get on otherwise).
Antonio is full of good advice on everything Lisbon and Portugal, and he's also invaluable for ordering taxis and stuff.
All in all a very good experience.

We stayed in the Family Macedo B&B towards the end of 2013, and found it really pleasant. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable (both about the city, and the broader life in Portugal, which was very interesting to learn about) and helpful - he provides a lot of tourist information, essentially saving you all the money you would otherwise have to spend on the guidebook on Lisbon and the vicinity. The set up is fairly basic, and you have to know where you stand on not having an en-suite, but the furniture is beautiful, and the rooms have everything one might need. As we're young and like to walk, we didn't have to take the metro for anything other than getting to and from the airport (well, and the football stadium); the metro stop is very near otherwise (and would highly recommend not taking a taxi, as it can overcharge you greatly). There are also quite a few local restaurants/cantines around (we managed to found with only elderly residents lunching for 4-6 Euros on massive portions of pork and other home-cooking! And the owner gives you advice on this too, and it is really worth taking).

I had a wonderful time in Lisbone celebrating the end of 2014. Staying at Family Macedo has made my trip a perfect experience. Antonio, the owner, is very helpful, and he will do anything possible to make your visit as enjoyable as possible, guiding you to the best places to visit, etc.. Daniela, the service girl, is very helpful and kind. The centre of town is only 10 min walk distance Very clean and highly recommended B&B!

Room Tip: when you get there Antonio will explain very well the characteristics of the rooms. It all depends what you want:a quiet room, one with a nicer view...? BTW, the furniture is amazingly beautiful!
