“Very cheap & perfect location”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Yes, you have to climb the stairs to the 4th floor, yes, it's noisy outside, since the street has lots of restaurants and cafes in it, but the location is perfect, and the price is extremely low. Hot water was hot, internet connection was fast, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The only thing we didn't like was that it was pretty cold and humid inside, but if you do not plan to spend much time in your room, it's not a huge problem.

In our trip to portugal we made a reservation in this hotel and when we arrived to the hotel (late at night) the reception man told us that he have cancelled the reservation ... We didn't know about the cancellation and it took us 3 hours to find another hotel at that terrible night..

basic hotel , slap bang in the center of the city .. only 10 mins walk to the Barios area and 15 mins walk to the train station ( if you are heading to the beach ) .

Ok so the hotel is tired and a little beat up , but there is a real charm to it and the staff that run it are friendly , plus a cleaning service for your room everyday !!

Only paid £170 pp including flights with easyjet over a bank holiday weekend so it realy was a bargain .

I would deffo stay here again , 303 is a decent room on the third floor and views over the street below , great bustling atmosphere of an evening , if you are a light sleeper ( and not partying in the barios ) then take some earplugs and the sounds of the restaurant seating being packed away and the bin men make wake you up around 1am ... or just stay out til 4 !

Great spot .

Room Tip: as above ... 303 was good if you want a double and want to overlook the street

We stayed here two nights while visiting Portugal and Spain. The hostal is on a pedestrian only street, so you have to park on the street and keep paying every 2 hours, or pay up and put the car in a garage. The staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful with maps and recommendations. The street is filled with reasonable and good restaurants and you are a short walk away from the theater district, the 28 tram, Rossi metro and Alfama district. The businesses on the street close up by midnight, so it was quiet at night.

The rooms are very basic, but clean. The bathroom looked recently remodeled, while the bedroom and tv were circa 1987. No wifi available anywhere in the building. Only negative to the room was that when we arrived, it had a VERY strong smell of disinfectant. We had to open the window and air it out a bit and asked them to NOT clean, just provide towels.

Room Tip: No elevator. If you are a very light sleeper, pick a room that doesn't face out on the main stre...

This hotel is located slap-bang between Alfama (old town, for the cathedral and castle, and tram route 28) and Bairro Alto (where the narrow streets come alive with bars after midnight!). It's a 10 minute walk to the waterfront, and a 2 minute walk from Rossio train station, tram stops and aerobus stop. Most importantly, it's about a 5 minute walk from Santini - a fab ice cream parlour, just behind Elevador de Santa Justa!

The hotel itself is located in a busy, lively street, with lots of eating establishments trying to get your business! The hotel is an old building, with the "balcony" looking out over the street...great for people watching! Our room was at the front of the hotel, and was noisy at times, but nothing a pair of earplugs didn't block out!

If you're looking for luxury and plump pillows, this hotel is not for you, but if you're looking to pay £20 pppn for a centrally located hotel in chilled out Lisbon, you can't really go wrong!

We were positively surprised by the extremely cheap price, very central position, cleanliness, close to the best restaurants and shopping areas.
Pubs area is around 10 minutes walk.
Of course for the price the furniture was ok, only problem: our room was on the street so sometimes it was noisy til 1 or 2 am, which we didnt mind.
Staff very discrete and helpful.

Nicely located close to Rossio square. My friend and I got a twin room (1 double and 1 single) with bathroom for 17.50 each per night. The street is full of tacky retaurants but it's close to everythig else including the stop for the airport bus. The staff are fine, they don't speak much english, so the encounters are brief.
