A small, cosy and intimate restaurant that gives friendly service and fantastic food at a price that won't break the bank. It opens at 7-ish and it is worth getting there early to ensure you get a table- as there are only about eight! The owner is very friendly and will advise on food and wine choices. We asked him to recommend a wine and he recommended one at €9 - which was one of the cheapest on the menu. It was wonderful - and tasted like a far more expensive wine. It was so nice not to be 'ripped' off! The food was excellent, fresh, delicious and nicely presented - can definitely recommend the fish kebabs.
Although the restaurant filled up quickly and people were continually coming in to ask for a table, we did not feel rushed to leave. It was definitely our best and most memorable meal during our trip to Lisbon. The only drawback is that it does not open on Mondays.

“A refreshing change!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2012

A real cut above the 'cafe' standard of most restaurants in the area.
It is a very unimposing place in an out-of-the way location - roughly half way between the seafront and the castle.
We went for the full monty - starting with the nibbles, then soup and then a main course, with house wine, then coffee and port. The cost was just over 60 Euro for the two of us and the quality was high - I went for steak (so often disappointing) and had one of the best I've had for a long time.
The place is small, so get there early or book your table.
Very highly recommended.

“Excellent price-quality ratio”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

We had lunch ( Portuguese: almoço ) at this very nice family restaurant. The food is very good. Prices are from 8 to 12 Euros per meal. Excellent choices and big list of wines.
Very nice owner.
Open for lunch 13-15.00 and dinner ( starting from 19.00 ).
Not too many places to sit so make a reservation.
4 persons with 1 bottle of average wine makes 60 Euros.
Some ambient and fado music.

“Great food!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2012

This tiny place can be a bit hard to find!!! We had a taxi take us there, which was a good idea because its tucked into an area with some small winding streets and alleys. However it is only a short and easy walk from all of the hotels in the Bairro Alto if you know where you are going! The place is very simple and charming (I think it is a family run business). The food was VERY good, and when you order the bread, butter, and olive starter you get a big basket of bread with all different types of bread and crackers. If your looking for something casual and relatively reasonably priced with great Portuguese food, this is your place! (Dinner for 2 with a glass of house wine each cost us 26 Euro)
