Disagree with the comments on noise levels but maybe it depends on the apartment. Clean and spacious apartment that's pretty close to the centre of Lisbon, off one of the main streets that leads you on to others areas of interest. Doesn't feel touristic, in an old part of the city and close to nightlife if that's what you want. If you don't want to walk so much there's a stop right outside that takes you to the centre of town. Plus transport is generally good. Only problem was because it is so roomy it can get cold but there's heating and extra blankets provided (we went beg. April).

Girly weekend in Lisbon. Our 2 bedroom apartment was perfect ( 4 girls). Close to everything. It is a quiet area day time but noisy during night (great for night life). It didn't bother us because we were dancing the night away. Our only complaint. After check out we wanted to drop off our bags to their Portugal Ways lounge but it was closed (noone answered the phone). It was pouring rain and we were soaked. We managed to leave the bags in the department store Core de Ingles and shop until it was time to fly home.

The apartment that was assigned to me was fine, specious and very clean, with all the kitchen appliances. It was located at the back (south) side of the building which made it very quiet, except for the squeaky floorboards. I was sorry for being on a lower floor which took away the view of the river. The area is residential and even with some industry, but it's not unsafe and with shops close by.There is no reception but the instructions for entering the key safety deposit box are very easy. The wifi system worked fine.
From the hotel it is a 20 minute walk to Chaido or (more uphill of course, or with the funicular tram) to Bairro Alto.

Room Tip: For a view of the river, ask for an apartment at the back of the building on a higher floor

The appartment is located in the party quarter of Lissabon!
This means - very good location for (young) partypeople, but maybe to loud for someone who wants to sleep and cant sleep because of the partyloudness on the streets!
The appartment is very nice and comfortable!
You have a kitchen witch all stuff you need, like toaster, coffee machine, fridge and so on!
You also have a heat (in december it was cold but with the heat fine :D)
The only problem is, that you have to check in by yourself, there is no reception andy nobody you can ask... Of course you have a number, where you can call and ask for help. We didnt need it for luck :)

3 of us stayed here, one with a bedroom to herself but we had to go through her room to use the bathroom. The price you pay! Clean and modern apartment with all amenities but lots of street noise.

Very comfortable and spacious lodging with good modcons in an older part of Lisbon. Although they are off-site, the management has been very responsive to a change in our plans and are readily accessible by telephone and e-mail. Although Santos is not an "up-scale" neighborhood, there are plenty of good places to eat, and every Lisboan has been helpful. We don't usually use public transit in cities that are new to us, but in this case, public transit is so accessible and plentiful that it is a pleasure. For wonderfully prepared Indian cooking, try Restaurant Lumbini on R. de Esperanca, 500 meters from the apartment building.

Well located apartment, within easy reach of Barrio Alto, Chaido and Baixa. This apartment was extremely clean and modernly decorated, while still retaining the charming period features of original doors and balconies.

The apartment was well equipped, with what could be described more a full kitchen/diner/lounge rather than a kitchenette. We were extremely comfortable during our stay and made full use of the kitchen, it was really great to be able to cook properly while away.

It's well placed for transport with buses, tram 25, underground, overground and elevador Bica all within 10 minute walk. It's around 20 minutes walk into Baixa (on the flat!) which is great as Lisbon is extremely hilly. Barrio Alto is very near, but best to take the bus or elevador as a very steep hill stands between you and all the bars/restaurants!

The area was a bit run down, but then so is a lot of Lisbon, there were a couple of quiet bars and shops nearby but otherwise it was a quiet area close to town.

There are no staff on site and if you have any problems the only way to contact them is using you own phone, which resulted in an expensive phone call for me when our fridge/freezer wasn't working. Also no-one availible to ask for things like extra toilet rolls/towels etc. I also imagine the trams might keep you awake on a lower floor.

All in all a nice stay in a modern, spacious apartment

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Conde Barao Apartments stand just next to Tagus River. From here you may stroll until Lisbon famous Praça do Comercio or feel just like a "Lisboeta" by getting on tram 25 that stops at our doorstep. We are sure you will be delighted with the old alleyways and cobbled streets during your stroll until Bairro Alto and Chiado. Conde Barao Apartments are right in the middle of "Santos Design District," an area that contributes greatly to an authentic city; a place that looks more like a village when the bells ring and when you see the puzzle of colourful clothes hanging on the clotheslines covering part of the tiled facades of the typical Lisbon buildings. The building was opened to the public in October 2008 after a major refurbishment. It has a large wood staircase and lift. ... more   less
