These apartments are very well-situated in the Baixa, very close to the Baixa-Chiado Metro station and were not as expensive as many of the hotels in that area in Lisbon. The rooms are located above a coffee shop, and the reception desk is actually in the coffee shop. The room we had was nice and modern and included free wi-fi, a Mac computer, and an iPad. And even though these are apartments, we had maid service every day, which was a pleasant surprise.

However, I did have a few complaints about our particular room: the faucet in the bathroom is a really bad design and very difficult to turn on and off; and the shower is located in an exposed area of the room, so if you are sharing the room with a friend (like I was), you need to be careful where you walk in the room if someone is taking a shower. Plus, we had a bit of a ceiling leak on the first day, and we also experienced a lack of hot water one morning.

All in all, the positives far outweigh the few flaws, and I can recommend Brown's Apartments to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Downtown location is brilliant and the interior fit out is really something special, so we were surprised it was also a bargain price. It is a bit noisy due to traffic and the roadworks outside which I understand have been going on for nine months! but I can really recommend a stay. One of the most stylish places I have ever stayed. Rooms have an ipod and a desktop mac and even a turntable for DJs that cant get enough! A joy to come back to although the WiFi is a bit hit and miss. Avoid the overpriced and poor quality coffee shop downstairs which is very nicely furnished but has a really dull selection of food and drinks served in paper cups in a city where there are great sweets and coffee almost everywhere else

Room Tip: The corner rooms 101 201 etc are the noisiest but so lovely it is worth putting up with

Great location in the Baixa, and only a block from the Baixa-Chiado metro.

I stayed in apartment 105. It's was an efficiency apartment but is spacious enough for 2 people. The decor is stylish, and the addition of a Mac and iPad was a nice touch, but I'm still boggled about the record player. There is an electric kettle but no coffee maker (there's a coffee shop downstairs which they own), microwave or decent sized cereal bowls. Otherwise, the kitchen is adequately furnished with cutlery, cookware, and dishes.

The reason I took a star off is for a couple of annoyances. One, an awful smell comes from the kitchen & bathroom sinks. The smell lessens when you keep the plugs in. The other annoyance is the absence of basic cleaning supplies for the kitchen. So make sure you stop at the store and pick these items up. There is a supermarket called Pingo Doce on 67-83 Rua 1° de Dezembro.

I'll definitely return and highly recommend.

We have stayed in may 2013, rooms clean, great location. Staff friendly. They arranged even the early morning taxi for us. ( it was 17 eur, but you can get cheaper if you just pay based on the taxometer) but all per all it wa a good stay.

We chose this hotel based on location and price. We got a pretty good deal through Venere.com which promised us a room with a small kitchen. Once we got there, the gentleman at reception was very nice. He sat down with us and spent a good amount of time helping us plan our itinerary. We arrived early, so they held our bags and we went to grab some food.

When we returned, closer to real check-in time, we were showed to our room. It was NOT an apartment, by no means, like we were expecting. They said that Venere commonly mess up reservations and over-booked; I'm not sure if it was Venere or Brown's fault really. The room we had was TINY. we barely had room to open our suitcases. The shower and toilet area faced the bed, covered by frosted glass doors. And, the Sink was directly in front of the entrance door, beside the bed. We asked to be moved, as our reservation stated that we had a bigger room. The hotel was over booked and they could not accommodate our 4 night stay in a bigger room, so, we stayed in the tiny room the first night, moved to a different (much larger and VERY pretty room) the second and third, and then were placed in a 3rd room for the 4th night. Luckily this moving around really did not bother us and we had a great time anyway. But, for the type of travelers who like to unpack everything or a family, this would have been an inconvenience.
The upgraded rooms were very nice. They were modern, clean, included a kitchen, MAC computer, and free wi-fi and internet access.

In all, a great stay in beautiful Lisboa.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the bigger rooms unless you're traveling solo!

We've chosen the hotel because of it's location. It's close to the metro station and you can visit the most important attractions of Lisboa in a few minutes. Since the reception is only operated between 10 am and 10 pm you have to call them to keep your luggage which can be bothersome depending your arrival and departure.

The room was very stylish and had nice features like an I-Pad, a computer, a dock-in station for the I-Phone a.s.o.. We also had a nice balcony with a nice view. However, it seems that they don't really maintain their rooms. This is a pity since it looses from its caracter.

Check-in was ok and friendly. They showed the rooms and equipments. The cleanness was ok as well.

I sleep very well but on a Saturday night it can be very loud and the windows have no noise protection at all.

Room Tip: Ask for room 401. 4th floor, huge balcony.

Great location with a wonderful coffee shop below (recommend cheap cheese/ham toastie). Rooms very modern BUT although ipad and larger mac computer (does anyone really need two computers?) they don't provide any soap or gels (be warned) and although there is a washing macine (sic) and kettle and a full dining service and pans there were no tea bags or coffee sachets - hence fur coat and nae knickers.

Rooms are noisy as on main street/intersection but location is so central what do you expect?

Room Tip: High as possible and not corner rooms (ie 01 rooms eg 101/201) to lessen street noise
